The mildly great game of Rugby League, in Australia is having is Grand Final tomorrow, the Melbourne Storm who won the Minor Premiereship earlier this year will be playing the Brisbane Broncos in Sydney Australia.

The Stom won the Grand Final in 1999, and Brisbane who entered the competition in 1989(?) have been in 5 and won all 5 they have been in.

National Rugby League!
Woooooo!

I was going to do this about 30 weeks ago just before the competition started but laziness aye, whadda ya gonna do?

14 weeks ago my Cronulla Sharks were on track to top the points table but then went on to lose 11 matches in a row.:(
They only missed out on the final 8 by 4 points.

Heck few will know what i am talking about and even less will care but that doesn't matter.

If the NRL stopped being League and became Australia's Rugby Union Competition, they'd be unstopable in the international game...

I don't really have much interest in the rugby, but I hope the Storm win.

Cos they're from MELBOURNE!

Would it be better for you if Brisbane win or lose?

Lose, probably. Then those people won't be in such a good mood and won't want to celebrate with me.

Do you like Aussie Rules, Rugby Union or the A League? Or are you more interested in the European football?

Just curious.

Mainly the latter, though I do occasionally watch the internationals in Union.

I also got into Cricket, so I think I've done enough to fit in. ;)

I never really got into it, to be honest. Then, at my school you had this really classic Hollywood movie scenario, except that the football jocks and quarterbacks all played League.

And finally...I tried watching a match once. I couldn't stand it - why do they have to stop and walk back every few seconds? Why do they have to limit the number of tackles? I prefer Union, to be honest. I might not understand much, but that looks like a lot more fluid game to me.

I watch everything - soccer, AFL, league, union, basketball, tennis ... except strange Canadian sports. :p

Soccer (err football) is my fav still.

I find rugby league pretty boring too. All they seem to do is smack into eachother five times, then kick the ball. At this point, the other team catches it & repeats the process. I'm assuming there must be more to it than that, but I struggle to see it.

I prefer rugby union, because as you say, it's a more fluid game. When they get tackled, they have to try & keep the ball moving. Much more interesting than the stop-start, very static rugby league.

What the hell?! I'm torn between rooting for the Brisbane Broncos and shouting my head off at them for stealing the TRUE Broncos'--the Denver Broncos, of American Football--name.

Yeah it is really good of you to get into Cricket, it is just brilliant.

This is pretty much for both Neu Leonstein and Boonytopia, yep Rugby League is all about running head on at someone for 3 tackles, passing it down the line to the wings for one and then kicking, chasing the tackle, giving a swinging arm at the player with the balls head before getting him to the ground and then repeating the process.

The players to watch in a Rugby League match are generally 1, 6, 7 & 9, they have the ball handling skills.

What a jackup!
King's try was legit, it didn't touch Hoffman's hands or arm, and the Broncos scored off a shepard!

Melbourne was robbed!
Robbed by New Soth Wales bias!
Just like a Kiwi team being robbed by An Aussie official!

Maybe Webke deserved it but bah!

I think Melbourne is just terrible at sport. Well, at least we're far and away the best team in the A-League. Beat the second placed team 4-1.
