Borat, the famous reporter from Kazakhstan, was prevented from covering the meeting between George W. Bush and the Kazakh president yesterday. Borat also railed against Uzbek propaganda being published in American magazines and newspapers.

"If there is one more item of Uzbek propaganda claiming that we do not drink fermented horse urine, give death penalty for baking bagels, or export over 300 tonnes of human pubis per year, then we will be left with no alternative but to commence bombardment of their cities with our catapults," Borat said.

Why is the government of Kazakhstan so angry at Borat? He comes from a distinguished family. His sister won an award for "best sex in mouth" and is the second or third rated prostitute in Kazakhstan, and he's famous world wide. Plus he's the star of a new documentary. I can't wait for it to be released in the US.

I think the whole idea was to pick a country which most Americans know nothing about (but have at least heard of), so as to play on their ignorance.

Throw the Jew down the well!

Borat’s ace. A lot better than ALi G, IMO. His TV special a couple of years back was hilarious, especially when he goaded the anti-hunting protestors.

Good. I couldn't even tell you the President of Kazakhstan.

And I'm just as capable of looking it up on Wikipedia as anyone else, before 17 people go there and say "it's so and so, everyone knows that".

I swear Cohen's pandering to American audiences. Few if any of his characters are stereotypes that would offend American sensibilities. Mostly Middle-Eastern types and French.

I've never seen him do a middle easterner or a Frenchman. Just Borat, Ali G, and Bruno.

He never made any characters that really offended british sensibilities either the thing about him is he shows people stupidity when they accept the extreme over the top stereotype as perfectly genuine and more so when they go out of their way not to offend him or even worse when they start singing along...

If he offends americans sensibilites, it is by getting americans to say racist and anti-semitic things, and by causing them to make fools of themselves.

I never, ever got Ali G. Some years later though, I saw (and had the misfortune to hear) the prick known as "Westwood" and it all made sense in hindsight.

Ali G was a bit hit and miss sometimes; I much prefered his interviews with people to his in-studio stuff.

Westwood however...
