so now no one arfue with me that fine fail are corupt.
he has admitted to taking money.
he has now 5 days to keep his job as Taoiseacht of Ireland, but who becomes in charge then? not sure about the system on that. probably mary
will be in charge. anyway a fine gael/labour coalition looks like a garrantee now.

for non-irish. bertie ahern is the leader of the republic of ireland, who may be losing his job soon over some scandal over putting money into personal account which was donated to him by some business dudes.
fine fail could be pronounced this way, "feena foil".
fine gael-"feena gail".
taoiseacht-"tea-shock-t".
Not bad

Perhaps the money was only 'resting' in his account - it worked for Father Ted

thats hilarious. good referance.

the reason it shouldnt be allowed cause it looks bad in a pr sense. it looks like business could influence some his decisions as a leader. there has been cases of that in our country before, thats we have to be strict.

It wasn't a donation, at least that's what he claims. Allegedely it was a personal loan from friends to cover the expenses of his separation. Also, where did the 5 days thing come from?

Oh, and if he stepped down a new Taoiseacht would be chosen from Fianna Fail, much like what happened when Mary Harney stepped down as Tanaiste. That or he could dissolve the government and force an election and not run.

because its a criminal offence.

he is claiming he was lent money by friends, many of whom ended up on various boards, to pay off loans resulting from his marriage ending. it was 1993 and he was minister for finance at the time.

but he never paid them back, so the opposition are claiming the money was a gift, which would land him in a world of shit.

its since emerged that he personally took GBP8k to speak to business men in manchester around then as minister for finance. that could see him behind bars.

and about time too
