It's been a dream of mine for most of my adult life to own one, and now I've finally got both the money to buy it and the time to ride it. :D

Im not much for the added cargo boxes.
Makes it look a bit too much like a Honda Goldwing.

However, becuase its a Harley, its automatically twice as cool.

This however, is even cooler:

Righteous bro.

Thanks, mah man! I thought long and hard before I could make a choice between a cafe style racer ( shuch as the Softail or the Fatboy ), or a touring style such as this one. Since I want to knock around the US of A, I finally wound up with this one. I have an old car I can drive around town, so the touring style was logical as well as visceral. :D

In wich case, if you want to bring more with you than just your wallet and whatever you can fit inside your leather jacket, you need saddlebags/boxes.

However, I forbid you to ride said Hog, unless you are suitably attired.

The road king would be my choice in (quite) a few years as well. I think the pic Sasquatches showed is of a scout with a motor by S&S. Indian does or at least did make a road bike along the lines of the Road King but without a Harley clone (by S&S) motor. The Chief. It has a new motor which pays visual homage to Indian motors of yore but is modernised and more powerful than the S&S ones.

Right now if I get a Harley next year when Im due for a new bike it will be one of THESE (http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/2004/2004-buell-xb12r-d3-3.jpg)

Old-school Indian bikes are all about making the guys who own Harleys look jealously at you as cruise by, looking way cooler.

After 37 years, you will undoubtedly have a wonderful cruise, and you will have deserved it.
I drove through western Canada on the back of a motorcycle once. When you drove by the rivers coming off the mountain glaciers, you would pass through a pocket of icy cold air for a split second that would cut right through your clothes and chill your skin. Exhilirating. That's something you won't get in a car.
Have a good ride, Eutrusca.
