Can Winawp burn audio CDs? I ask because my entire collection is in ogg vorbis format (as all Linux distros support ogg), but Linux seems to have problems burning CDs (it can do DVDs just fine, unlike Windows which has corrupted every DVD its touched). So, I need something that can understand ogg and burn audio CDs. I know WinAmp can handle the former, but for the free version the site is quite ambiguous.

I know, but if I am not going to pay for my main OS or my collection, why would I pay for an app that I will use once?

I'd hardly recommend Winamp as a burning program. You'd probably be better off finding yourself a good, free one (burnatonce should do) and a separate ogg decoder for converting your files.

The best ogg converter I could find would only let me convert 30 songs before I had to pay.

nautilus-burn, k3b, gnomebacker all freeze between preparing the data and actually burning (ie the CD is still usable).

gnomebaker sugests usig kernel 2.4.

Windows is perfectly happy to caoster DVDs, but it can get Cds done.

Audacity shouldn't have a problem loading Ogg and then saving Wav that you can burn into a CD.

It's more hassle than using one single application, but it's late and I can't think of others.

Well, if WinAmp fubars the CD, I'll give it a shot.

Stay away from media player, all the songs sound as if they are being played from far away.

Personally, I prefer Quintessential Player (http://www.quinnware.com/) for... well... just about everything. It burns .ogg quite nicely.

You could try http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/ .
Plus side: it is free. Downside: it does not run under linux and has some issues under xp.

Both irritate me. You can't play your playlist randomly, you can only rearrange your playlist. What the hell is that about?

WinAmp can burn ogg just fine, at 2x.

Free or libre?

I got pissed off at always having to install codecs and since I never listen to music on Windows, what is the point in having it in a format windows can play.

I seem to recall Musicmatch Jukebox being able to create a random playlist based on your .mp3 files and how long you wanted it to play. Of course, I don't think it can manage ogg.

WinAmp can burn ogg just fine, at 2x.And yet... the OP is here posting saying he can't.

Free or libre?I haven't paid one cent for the player or any of the plugins. All from the site. There's no ads, no nagware... doesn't get much more free than that.

Of coarse, not going to find a player with everything. Not even AmaroK gets it all right.

The OP asked if it could. I said Pro can, but the site is ambigguous about Free.

Libre would give you the code needed to change everything. Which means squat for me, as I am a doubleplusungood coder.

But, eh, I have little use for burning CDs, as I have CDs. I usually use it to rip from disc to put on my iRiver. I use ogg, of course, because I can pack twice as much music on with the same quality (such as it is... earbuds aren't exactly prime for listening).

I'm pretty sure Quin isn't libre. Then again, I haven't looked into it.
