For you amateur(or professional) mechanics out there.

Just put a new muffler on my Jeep... worst thing I've ever had to do to a car. It sucked so much; dirt and grime and rust chips all over the place, I got burned from the hot metal shards(I used a power saw to cut through the tailpipe and clamps, which got red hot), and it was hard as hell to wrestle the new muffler and tailpipe back into the right place.
Whats the worst experience you've had fixing a car? I do most of my own car work, (I'm kinda poor) and this is up there for me.

I am currently in the process of rebuilding my engine in my Jeep, it's messy and tedious, and did I mention I am doing it pretty much with my Haynes manual and nothing else, sucky, but it needs to be done and I feel the need to do it.
Prior to that, I had to replace this weird sensor thing in my Grand Am about 6 years ago, that sucked, I had to remove the freaking manifold to get to the damn thing, which wasn't fun for me....being a girl and all. The sensor had to be replaced though, my car would run for 10 minutes, die, sit dead for 20 minutes, start again, run for 20 minutes, die, sit dead for 30 minutes start again, run for 3 minutes, die.....blech, it took forever to get anywhere.

You've got a jeep? What year/model/engine/specs?
I've got a functional engine in mine, while I rebuild a new one. I like engines and cars, so I don't mind though.
My dads worst is replacing the heater core in a Thunderbird. Took him damn near a month because the car was impossible to tear apart. The moral of the story: don't buy Ford.
