On 9/20/2006 one of the best marines i have ever had the privilege of leading and serving with died in combat in Iraq. His name was Sgt. Chris Zimmerman. He served in my platoon in Afghanistan and was one of the hardest Marines i ever knew. During one incident in which i lost 2 marines he was critical in preventing any other casualties. Immediately following that tour he become a recon marine and went to Iraq shortly after. I ran in to him once when i was in Iraq and he was in as good spirits as ever. Anyway, i just wanted to pay my respects for the family and if you want to also then do so, just please don't turn this into a debate on the Iraq war. He was too good of a person for that.

I absolutely abhorr the war in Iraq, and everything it stands for, but I also regret the loss of anyone brave enough to stand up for what they believe.

My condolences to the loss of your friend.

Death of the good is very very bad. Would that goodness made us invulnerable, this would be a much more beautiful world.

Would that those who do not understand the meaning of goodness knew it, their false regrets would not be heard, and their insults would not therefore wound those remaining.

I am sorry to hear about your friend.
It is always a shame when we lose a good man.

He will be missed by even those that did not yet know him.
