Can't give a toss about golf, none of my countrymen playing... but why is it so good!?!

Up till about 20 years ago, it wasn't a big deal, because the US kicked Europe's ass every year. Lately, it's been the other way around, and even when the US has won, it's been tight and required huge comebacks by the US. And yeah, it's a bit of comeuppance for the US, so it becomes fun to watch, especially when the major US players collapse the way they so often do in this format.

Right you are Nazz. It was something to see a STAR like Tiger finding water with his first shot. So the best have nerves too...

I think it's to do with the fact that Europe enjoys being able to beat the US at a sport that they take seriously. I have no interest in golf at any other time but I still follow the Ryder Cup very closely.

Golf is without doubt one of the worst sports ever invented. If a Doctor ever told me to take it easy for a few days and not get excited, I shall become a fan at once. Until then, I shall stick to the cricket.

well, i don't get excited because ts just golf. it would be more exciting if it was football, but then america would not stand a chance against europe.
its fun because a load of yanks who dont really want to be there fight amongst themsleves and get spanked by the europeans.
could tiger give less of a shit?
mind you the badly photoshopped pics of his wife (not) doing porn that appeared in the irish tabloids were nice to pull your stomach out too :p
Great result. And well done to the legend that is Darren Clarke.

Yeah, for any man to lose his wife and then play such a great game of golf, whilst being virtually the centre of attention for the whole 3 days shows that he is a class act.
No wonder he is now odds on for BBC Sports Personality of the Year...I'm almost willing to put money on the European cup team being the team of the year as well!
