How often do you not post?

i was just writing what i thought was a witty reply to another thread, but upon a second read i realized it floated in the nebulous area between incoherent and just plain stupid. so i deleted it and actually decide to keep my mouth shut on this issue. this doesn't happen that often, i'm generally not afraid to make a fool of myself, but ocasionally i will have a flash of sanity while rereading something i'm about to fling into the cyberwinds and i just realize... man that's just dumb.

does anyone else do this or and i the only one who will waste ten minutes replying to something only to discover what i wrote was just too bad to pass even my low standards of self editting?

I often do.

Sometimes it's because as I re-read it, I realise it's not funny, just stupid, unintelligable, or could be seen as offensive.

Other times it's because I get to the thread quite late, and what I want to has already been said by quite a few other people, making my post look like some sort of me-too or wannabe sycophancy.

I always start writing a response to something idiotic someone has said, then realise that they're probably too unintelligent to understand my reply anyway.

i did it just now on another thread. probably do it many times a day, usually when i realise what i was gonna say isn't actually funny (or is stupid)...

I do this all the time. Hence my pathetically low post-count:p

Maybe a "almost post count" needs to be implemented, mine would be at least 50% bigger than it is now.

Sometimes. Generally if I post it'll be because I've really got something to say on whatever issue; hence the post-count, relative to the join-date.

I never post. In fact I am not posting now. That number to the left is all lies, and that UberSpam Girl nickname is part of a vast right wing conspiracy that just won't go away.

Frequently. I'll read it over and realize that 1) someone else already said and better, 2) it's too stupid, 3) the op wasn't really worth the response.

about 50% of the time i dont post in a thread im interested in because its already been dominated by a couple of fools who are only reading each others' posts. no sense trying to get read in the middle of that

about 10% of the time i write up a post only to find that by the end i either dont want to be in that thread at all, its boring, not funny, or made no sense.

90% of the rest of the time i post and no one responds.

I figure, if I'm stupid enough to write it, and it doesn't violate the rules, I'll post it, even if it's asinine.
