As a tribute to the Great Stephen Colbert, I ask the question that has baffled the political minds of the handful of congressmen and women that it has been passed onto.

I'd have to say great. Why? Because by the measuring stick I am using, he is a very close second to the Greatest President Ever: William Henry Harrison.*

*As measured by those who accomplished the least in their term of office.

Oh he's the greaterest :/

I don't have the energy for loads of 'Bush Bashing', so just insert a generic yet whitty comment here: " "

If great = wanker, then he's certainly the greatest.

Ah, the adaptation to Iraq--great war or the greatest war?

You know people go on the Report and think that he is being serious. All you have to do is watch the show occassionally and see the sarcasm dripping from every joke praising Bush.

Americans have been known to exhibit a crude version of what we know as "sarcasm". David Attenborough demonstrated this in a lab test where he put an american and a chimp in a windowless cell. After playing "material girl" by Madonna repeatedly from a speaker in the cell's walls, David yelled "That was a good song...NOOOOT!". The American expressed euphoria while the Chimp exhibited heightened agression. Critics have pointed out that the euphoria may have been a result of the chimp's flinging excrements at David.
The riddle of American sarcasm is one that baffles scientists to this day.

Couldn't he be a great ass? (remember, great simply used to mean really really big.)

Well, I think we're catching on slowly.

Remember the White House correspondents dinner thing?

Apparently someone read a transcript of his show and figured that he'd be a good guy to have on stage at a partisan event. Then when they heard him they realized, "hey! This stuff that he says in praise of the president and the republican party every day of the week sounds like it might not be entierly sincere." And none of them laughed. It shows that at least they understand being the butt of a joke.

I assume you didn't see his interview with MSNBC correspondent Monica Crowley, in which she suggested that Bush was the greatest president ever...

Not to mention this little gem (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcofsmFXCYE). :D

Most of the people who he interviews have never actually seen an episode of the Report, that is probably the only reason that they agree to appear, and that is what makes the Colbert Report so great.

And you've obviously never watched an American dark comedy or read one of the "great" Southern writers if you're view of American irony is so shallow and uninformed.
