4-leader of ucd fine gael youth is hot. although very scarey. she was try to convice me to lock up members of the opposition in my house.

reasons to laugh at opposition.

1-fine fail might be getting sued my mtv over thier "pimp my party" posters.

2-pd's are getting in trouble for thier "dail wars- attack of socialist" posters.

although both are very funny.

Biscuit yo-yos, or toy yo-yos?

2-free vodka.

Vodka is good! :)

3-blue is my favourite colour.

Why didn't they give any to me? Is it because I can't vote because I don't have citizenship yet? :(

What a spamtastic thread. There are no good reasons to vote Fine Gael other than "they're not Fianna Fáil".

I especially disapprove of their plans to make Irish optional.

Vote Caomhaontas Glas. (Green Party)

I would like to inform other posters that this has nothing to do with Irish politics or any election. It is purely based on local university politics and is restricted to a single campus.

Now that that's out of the way, you couldn't pay me enough to vote for either Fine Gael (centre-right) or Fianna Fail (centre).

Most assuredly.

Vote Caomhaontas Glas. (Green Party)
Aren't they a tad anti-Europe?

You're implying that they have ideologies, which is no longer true. If Fianna Fail goes left, Fine Gael goes right and vice versa. Their "ideology" is oppositionism.

Aren't they a tad anti-Europe?
No.

Now I'm all confused, I googled Fine Gael and the website is a real political party yet you say this is a uni thing?

*sigh* Too true.

No.

Hmm. Maybe it wasn't Europe then. I do remember there was something fundamental I didn't agree with several years ago, and that kinda stuck. I'll have a read of their manifesto in a little more depth.

Found it!

It's the Green's stance on neutrality that I disagreed with. That's the reason I won't vote for them.

Yeah, I'd love to vote for a party formed out of fascists.

(not that I have much a choice, living where I do)

If Fine Gael did give out Vodka, it would be watered. If Fianna Fail do it, it'll be fine, but you'll pay for it one way or another in the long run. The PDs give nothing for free. PSF have been known to give out Vodka, but it seems to coincide with lorries going missing.

Believe it or not, I don't much agree with them on that issue either, but they're the closest party to my beliefs in this country, so I vote for them.

One reason not to vote Fine Gael...I'm not Irish! (Although being British, if I took up residence in Ireland I could). If I could, I'd vote Socialist. See if the amount of Socialist TDs increases from 1 to 2 :D

I think that Socialists are crap. They serve mainly to intermittently spam the city streets with leaflets.

The fact that it's a misnomer perpetuated to people like it's a truth.

Explain ...

Very few people have actually ever read the Constitution.

As such it is easy to dupe large portions of the public into believing neutrality is core to policy by simple and effective repetiton of the word "neutrality". It is very easy to get people up in arms by saying XYZ party will remove this sacred cow from the state's policy. Support for XYZ then drops sharply as A) people believe the party is "selling" out the state and B) because they believe it is actually exists as a policy.

Have a look yourself and see how sacred it is. I'm sure it's written in the Constitution somewhere...

You're right ... it doesn't appear to be written in the constitution anywhere. There are the references to peace, co-operation and pacific settlement of disputes in Article 29, but that is about it. It's too bad ... it's a nice idea.
