I'd really like one right about now. But I'm at work... in this huge big corporate container kind of building, which does have a (lousy) canteen, which doesn't have any cookies, lousy or otherwise.

And to think that it's one of my private joys of being adult to have a cookie before lunch... :(

You are being paid to sit in an airconditioned building and whinge about how you forgot to bring a snack to work.

Oh, it's an absolute disgrace. You need a union! With an effective union, you could have not only the cookie of your choice, but public floggings of middle-managers, or even pyrotechnic displays in the office (with the agreement of a majority of workers, of course.)

Don't romanticise childhood. A cookie is only a cookie when it's a reward, when it's a rare and cherished thing. As adults, we could eat cookies morning noon and night ... but we don't huh?

And you're sitting in a big concrete block. It's a choice. Kids get a lot less choice than you have. But you're whining about a lack of cookies.

What is your lack? Your employer lets you surf the net and crap on with your mates on NSG. Plainly, there are kids who do that ... but are they paid to do it? I think not.

Perhaps you're lacking that personal reward, the kindness and guidance of a parent. You turn to NSG. "Please mummy, give me a cookie for being me, to prove your love for me. If you don't, I'm going to cry."

Ben and Jerry's gives away free ice cream at all of their stores on their birthday (which falls right on or around earthday). It is a wonderful tradtion that ends with many brainfreezes and missed classes so college students can gorge themselves on free ice cream. All flavors, free.
