Curious to see who is what on this forum. It's kind of generalized so please think before you vote and weigh out the pros and cons and which ever is greater then vote. Thanks

I'd say I'm fairly anti-American though I say its more European rivalry than anything so I don't hate the U.S or its citizens to any degree after all where would I be without love:)

I'm neither. I believe that freedom is more important than security, so I guess that makes me against Bush, at least.

the United States of America

Ah. It's ok, I guess. I wouldn't trust it further than I can throw it, but once you are aware of that you can get along pretty well with it.

I would say I'm against the actions and views of the American government as they stand, focussing on the wrong things, not addressing the issues that need addressed. I'm also tired of our "Labour" government growing increasingly corrupt and distanced from what it ought to stand for, and instead lapdogging along to the US.

Its not right.

I'm kinda Meh-America.

Pro- seems to have connotations of supporting the far right agenda of the Republicans.

Anti- seems to be associated with a bunch of irrational and biggoted Europeans, who purposefully steriotype your average American.

Therefore, I am a Meh-America person.

Wow, that's kind of an absolute question- and very broad. I think I'm more anti-most-American-foreign-policy. That's not really tied specifically to any one administration. There were lots of unfair events in this Administration, Reagan's, McKinley's and most others. And it irks me that the United States will probably never sincerely appologize... Domestically, the US is pretty great compared to a lot of places- but (using vast generalizations) Northern and Western Europe seem waaay cooler. (I am an American, by the way)

Okay then let me simplify it a bit for you. Overall, are you for (pro) America or against (anti) America. It takes some thinking and weighing some things out. I'm just curious to know the overall status not just one thing or another. I understand it is kind of generalized but thats why you weigh it out.

pro american(we have done alot for the world in our short history)

anti bush and anti neocon,anti hillary and anti liberal nannystaters.

i am a true conervative,well really a libertarian as both parties have been whored out to such an extent they are laughable.

but i love my country,i love the diversity of the people,i love my freedoms(which both parties seem to want to extinguish)
i love the diversity of the geography,i love that most of us are damn tolerant of others,and pretty kind to all people.

i am proud to be an american for the right reasons,and embarressed because of bush and his vocal minority that portends to speak to the world for me,and likewise,as much as the world seems to love the democraps,they are just as bad but in other ways...corruption is their middle name,along with hypocracy and holier then thou attitude.

(not to mention they want to disarm me..lol..so they can protect me...what a joke)

at least the repug's leave me alone on that count.

i really wish for the days when the dems and repugs really cared about their respective platforms,and cared about our country,not their campaign coffers or catering to their donors and special interest groups.

but alas that is probably true everywhere..not just here..but it pisses me off.

i should go into polotics cause i actually care about things...lol

The world ain't black and white, and neither is "America".

Again, I realize it is very broad. I'm simply looking for the overall positions. I understand every nation in this great world has it's good and it's bad. Just weigh out the thoughts and whichever of your thoughts weigh more than the other then vote.

I prefer the people who are stuck on I hate Bush not to take a vote because this isn't a Bush poll. As for most of our politicians I don't think they rightly represent the people. So if you are stuck on think politics then please don't vote this isn't a political poll.

This is a poll on peoples views of America as a whole this is more of the big picture.

Thank you.

More pro than anti, but I would consider myself neutral. America isn't great simply by being a landmass populated by Americans. Greatness and support must be earned.

It's not that it's "generalized," it's that it's vague to the point of meaninglessness.

What is "America"?

it all depends upon what you mean by pro or anti. Am i pro-America? yes....along with pro-Iran, pro-China, pro-Britain, pro-Thailand, etc. Very few countries are not amazing in their own ways. I disagree with the government of every country on earth.....none of them get it exactly right, they are all wrong on some things and right on some things.

i make a much bigger distinction between people that spend time to learn and travel to other places and those who do not than the people of different countries. in general, people that travel are very friendly and accepting of other people and places. with people that don't travel, it's pretty hit or miss.

I would say I'm anti-American because I dont like the ideas American was founded on. You have Manifest Destiny which is basicly using God to justify things... or the begining of it anyway. It is also founded on the idea that it is essentually the duty of the United States goverment to spread freedom in the world (this may have not been what america was orginially founded on, but it is what America seems to represent now). The whole freedom thing leads to Imperialism, which I am also against. The last thing is the American Dream which was basicly made to make life in America seem happy and peaceful during the Great Depression. Yep so I would definitly say anti-America

Well, having the "American Dream" or hope for that matter, to me anyways, isn't a bad thing. How can having a dream or hope be considered something bad. I would have to say that the American People are a very hopeful people and Yes we have the American Dream.

In America, the poor do have the ability to be successful. Prime example is Ross Perot. He came from being raised in pretty much a shed to being a multi-billionaire. Now he lived the American Dream.

Repeat after me:

My Country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrim's pride,
From every mountainside
Let freedom ring.

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love.
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture fills
Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song.
Let rocks their silence break,
Let all that breathe partake;
Let mortal tongues awake;
The sound prolong.

Our fathers' God, to Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright
With freedom's holy light;
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God, our King! A-men.

No more shall tyrants here
With haughty steps appear
And soldier bands.
No more shall tyrants dread
Above the patriot dead;
No more our blood be shed
By alien hands.
