He's talking about the speeches of Ahmadinejad and Chavez before the United Nations.

For those who don't pay attention to what's going on in the world, the UN has begun its 61st session, and the leaders of all 192 member nations (well, 191: minus Thailand) are addressing the General Assembly one by one.

I've actually been listening to some of them (Brazil, USA, France, Jordan, Ghana, Switzerland, Costa Rica and Bolivia so far; I'm listening to Iran right now, and I'll finish with the Sudan and Kiribati before getting some sleep. ;) )

You can listen to them here (http://www.un.org/webcast/ga/61/gastatement19.shtml).

The last speaker will be pinky and the Brain ...or is chavez Pinky and Abadababob the Brain ?

The UN is a fun place ...chavez would have banged his sandle on the podium but he could get his straight jacket off .

Oh ... I thought this was a plug for a new movie ... "Snakes in the General Assembly" or something like that.

You know, of late I've come to the conclusion that something has become insanely weird with my life, and I don't know what caused it. I'm almost to the point of view that the answer and the question have both been deciphered, and that just sent everything straight to fuck, or what.

What's that got to do with Monty Python and The United Nations?

Is anyone else but me actually listening to what they're all saying, or are you relying solely on second-hand media accounts?

I am struggling to think of anything the Kiribati delegate could say that would remotely interest me. Are you getting paid for this, or is some new form of torture?

Actually, the world hasn't changed a bit.

Think of what it was like a while back, in WW II, hearing the ravings of certain world leaders, and the philosophies they espoused.

Then we had the fucking Cold War, where the US and USSR thought of random civilians killed by fallout from nuclear testing as "unknown and unsung heroes in a war that might never end". Oh yes. Unlike now, where the US only has a total of 3500 operational (that is, assembled and usable) warheads, we had 50,000 - and the USSR about the same. All set up on a hair trigger.

Get some marshmallows, a stick, and a toggle bolt to lift manhole covers. That way, when this idiocy culminates in a nuclear exchange, you can go out to the street, lift a manhole cover, get in, and poke a marshmallow up with your stick, and wait for the flash of the thermonuclear detonation.

Hehe... No. Actually, I find it rather interesting to hear what certains leaders I respect (Morales) or despise (Bush, Ahmadinejad) have to say.

As for Kiribati, I'm doing research on Oceania, so the position of Pacific leaders on the world stage is of particular interest to me. I'm listening to the Papua New Guinea speech right now.

I find little difference between the War Room at the Pentagon and the UN. Except that the War Room has an honest name.

The UN exists to preserve peace, but sends troops and authorizes wars, on behalf of a handful of countries who rarely agree to do anything except set up whorehouses and observer stations in countries torn by civil strife. And in nearly every case, the strife is allowed to continue while the UN troops get their rocks off.

How do you expect nations making billions of dollars from trade with Iran , most notably Russia and China to go along with any meaningfull sanctions ?

Just like the UN and the ten year crusade to diarm saddam while everyone got filthy rich off of the oil for food program , you have to be either an extreme optimist or a complete idiot to expect the UN to solve the issue with Iran when half the security council is on the books .

BTW the President of iran was a complete class act compared to the fourth stooge Chavez the giant ...even if he prayed for the comming of the final imman and the end of the world...at least he did it with class . Chavez acted like he was in a corner bar .

That's because the UN isn't powerful enough.
