Nostalgia Trip

Big Jim P

The other day, I Googled "Big Jim P" just to see what came up. I found an old thread on here (me hitting on Roan) and one on Fools Paradise (announcing mine and roans marriage oddly enough). That got me to looking through the early threads on FP, and I just did the same thing here.

I set jolt to list the threads by start date and just browsed through them. What a blast form the past! My favorite was one (from early 2004) with me and my old "night crew" bitching about missing the old days. Funny how that still happens.

Anyway, I recommend that the Elders here do that occasionally, and I especially recommend that the new players do so as well to get an idea of the history of NSG.

BTW just read the threads, don't go gravedigging.

I did that some time ago.

I was amazed by what I found.

Sometimes I wonder what strange mood I was in when I posted in some of em.

I googled myself. Turns out I'm a doom metal band. (http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=31094) :p

I did that the other day, to see what life was like before I arrived. It was quite interesting to work out who people were in previous incarnations (I'm 95% certain I found Deep Kimchi being deleted).

None of the threads predate me sadly enough. I would have liked to have seen what made Sheol so infamous. Nor did I find the incredibly few posts I ever made with puppet nations. Of course almost all of them existed in 2003.

Well, the only 'infamous' poster I could remember was Myrth, and I saw a few of his moderator posts. The threads I found most interesting where ones with people I know in them - while the join date shows when people first arrived, it's still strange to see them actually active back then.

The only old thread I want to find is the first babe thread. That was sweet. Pity it got deated.

I saw one person calling Myrth a mod wannabe. Funny.

I wasn't looking for any specific thread, just ones I and my friends were in.

This reminds me of the old "Ask the Squatch" threads, wich I believe, spawned a period of Hell on NS General.

I gave up at "Ask the Squatch 4.1" I think.

It was fun for a while though.

Wonder if that kind of threat is allowed again?

doubtful...

Let's put the official kibosh on the resurging "Ask a ... whatever" threads again. They've been banned at least twice, and they seem to be starting once again.

"Ask a ..." threads will be locked, moved to spam, deleted, or whatever the mod feels is appropriate. Spam warnings and forumbans may be issued for egregious offenders.

That is all.

probably be ok if there was only your one, but if people started copying (as always happens) then shit --> fan

It's a shame they removed his Mod status after he left; it means he's not identifiable on old threads as a Mod. Means you have to know about him to know why he's talking like he does; although he has passed into legend now, so his infamy may need no identification. :p

I haven't tried it yet, but can anyone tell me if anything was migrated from the old server? I seriously doubt it, but that's what I really think of when I think of the old days.
