had a great one in Quake 2 years back. every time we fired off a BFG shot in this particular room it'd just hang there in the air and not move or dissapate, but still shoot rays out and kill all the enemies around... it was awesome :P

had another good one back in the day with Donkey Kong on the SNES (god that game rocked :p) when we moved to one level right at the beginning of the game and all of a sudden we ended up about 2/3 the way through for no apparent reason

Heh heh. Have you ever heard of TimeSplitters 2? In the mapmaker you can put a turret at the edge of a roof and you will hang off the edge while inside it. If you kill yourself when you're like that you can slide around on the ground and shoot people (you won't be dead). It's a bit hard to control, but I've mastered it.

In one of those "Ratchet and Clank" games, you can hit a jump just the right way and go off the map. They're are some pretty cool things to do out there. That game has so many glitches. If you want I can tell you, but it'll hurt my fingers plenty.

I've fallen off the edge of the earth rangomly a few times in GTA III.

The game I really liked was Mafia, but it was quite glitchy. I'd shoot someone in the face with a sawn-off shotgun, and he'd continue shooting. THe nice thing was if you were extremely lucky, someone could empty a tommy gun into you and do no damage. Happened only once, though.

Lol. Blasting some loser in the face and he shakes it off. That's almost like TimeSplitters, but the players are supposed to be super-strong and annoyingly resistant. I shot a demon with a crossbow until it looked like a pin cusion. Then it killed me. :headbang:

Some glitches are good. Some are bad.

GoodGlitch: So many games have the gernade-jumping thing I love so much. Just toss, run towards it, jump, and BOOM! You fly through the air and probably kill yourself if you don't land on a hugher level or something.

BadGlitch: The damn super-cop glitch in GTA: Vice City. Its happened like six times for me, and it sucks. You can't kill him. Once he ran up to my motorcycle when I was at full speed on a highway and knocked me off. The only time the super-cop died is when he jumped like two-hundred feet in the air from a bridge and busted me in my helicopter. My chopper plummeted down, and though I was busted the super-cop drowned (cause averyone is programed to drown in that game).

Most of the games that feature a persistent enviroment, like GTA clones, have pretty amusing glitches.

My favorite was in True Crime: New York, a mistake that someone had made with the vehicle physics. If you clipped a car near a rear tire at the right angle, it would go into a fast, sharp spin, supposedly an effect of a successful PIT manuever. But, the physics for clipping a bus didn't take into account the bus's greater mass when it spun. So, if you clipped any of the busses in that game at the right spot, you'd turn a large vehicle into an incredibly fast, spinning death machine that mowed down citizens and caused huge wrecks, especially in the enviroment's narrow streets. Ahh, good times.

Well, I can agree. There's a very odd glitch in TS I like to call the Black Hole. If you drop a jumping-jack in front of you in a certain arena and walk up to it, It'll kill you and send you to "Hell" after you respawn. Hell is when your screen is black and all you can see is a strange colored bar across the screen. I actually discovered that, believe it or not.

Another pain in the @$$ glitch is in GTA: San Andreas when you play a 2-player mode and player2 gets a katana and cuts CJ's head off. The game ends and goes back tro 1P mode, and CJ respawns his head still isn't there. I accidentally saved, thinking it would fix it, but instead it saved the game with the head missing.

Mechwarrior 2: Ghost Bear. in the last mission... before you enter the reactor, if you look carefully, you can look between the walls (the resolution gets funky when your mech is at a certain angle.) and see the final boss. you can then shoot him repeatedly (he won't move) untill he blows up. then you can walk into the reactor room and you'll hear his speech over your com system followed by the words "Enemy Mech - Destroyed"

Sometimes, when there's a lot of carnage in an online game, the game disk just kills you for no apparant reason and blames it on a non-existant player named "The Guardians".

And when I mean ghost, I mean that fucker will walk through walls, hunt you down even if you teleport, and will even float up or down to your level!

When indoors or in a cave in The Elder Scrolls II or III, you can jump or crouch the right way when facing a wall, and fall into "The Void." Basically, you are in empty space(hence the name, "Void"), but can still do everything normaly. You can also see through the walls of the room you were in and see enemies running around trying to figure out where you went. AND then, you can shoot them with spells or ranged weapons THROUGH the walls. :sniper: :)

You can also use the Scrolls of Icarian Flight in The Elder scrolls III during a Blight Storm to jump all the way to another area with clear weather. The Blight will follow you and last a few minutes when you land in your destination. You can jump to areas where there would normally not be Blight Storms, like Vivec City or the middle of the Ocean.

If you have TES III without the expansions(which fix this), when you knock a person down with your fists or a heavy weapon, you can open up their inventory as if they were dead and take/give stuff. Not a challenging enough opponent for you? Knock him down and lend him your Dwarven battleaxe!

I also like flying through the air using the Energy Sword's lunge attack on a flying Banshee in Halo 2.

Also, try digging with your weapon drawn in Fable. Before your guy is done digging, press Y to skip the scene. You are now holding the shovel in your hand instead of your weapon and can hit people with it.

Another thing is Fable is to cast Beserk, save your game before it dissapates, then reload it. Now you will still be really huge, but without the red glowing or smoke or the super strength.

Another thing in Fable(this is a really glitchy game) is to cast Physical Shield and go to sleep. When you wake up, you will still have the shield, but it will not be draining your mana.

Let's also not forget using a Protoss Arbiter to cloak Zerg buildings in StarCraft!(sadly fixed in the last patch)

Wow. Not to sound obsessed by TS, but if you are a zombie, you can get you're head shot/punced/chopped off and still run around like it.

That actually sounds pretty cool, running around with no head. You can't get shot in that vital place anymore!

I love Driver. In the PC version, I think it was the Miami level, if you drive hard and fast enough you can smash right through a barrier and drive into the sea.

I could drive around yachts, drive to a bridge where "decorative" cars mysteriously appear and disappear, even drive off the 3D map completely, where the sea is no longer "solid" enough to drive on.

What's even cooler is if you beat the game once, you unlock a super car that has methanol boosters or something. If you drive it at full speed towards a car, you can use it as launching ramp and fly up into the sky so high that the ground 3D dissolves into patches of black. You should see the replay video, it's utter madness. :p

One time I ran over this combine guy in Half-life 2 with the buggy and he just sorta laid sprawled out over the hood, but i kept driving cause i didn't care. His foot kept bouncing on the exposed front tire, and suddenly the tire "gripped" the boot and sent his corpse whirling around the wheel like a winch or somethin and his body got wedged inbetween the car body and the wheel. Thought it was cool at first, then realised the buggy couldn't move, had to walk through the whole damn level:gundge:

Another thing in Fable(this is a really glitchy game)

I'm not surprised. It's by the master of nice-ideas-with-terrible-coding. Like Black & White: how many beta testers does it take to find out your creature (whose learning is the main (only) point of the game) will forget everything in a multiplayer battle?

One fun glitch in the old (Gameboy) version of the Legend of Zelda Link's awakening.

If you get knocked off by the first boss in the first dungeon, if you jump right as the screen switches to the side view you'll actually 'jump' out of the room into a glitched version of the room. By walking on the Left and bottom wall you can visit the next four dungeons all glitched up. All treasure chests have power bracelets also. Going down stairs gets you out of the glitch, the thing is if you do it in another dungeon you'll end up in that one. Got the flippers early on that way.

Worst game was one of the first Elder Scrolls games. Either Arena or Daggerfall.
I'm pretty sure it was Arena.
Man, did it ever suck!
It was so buggy it was practically impossible to play.
You had to search through 8 dungeons to get 8 parts of some mystic gem or something, assemble it then travel to a ninth to defeat some beasty (iirc).
And you could go on sub-quests while you were at it.
Bugs:
One sub-quest would give you an amazing object which bestowed 50 attribute points. Problem? Every time afterwards when you levelled, you would recieve 50 attribute points instead of the usual 2 or 3. Why was that a problem? Other than it became very boringly monotonous with the ease you killed creatures, once you got to 100% max points on all attributes and levelled again, you couldn't leave the character window until you'd assigned all the points. Which you couldn't do because you were at 100%.
Solution? Start again from scratch. yay.

Another major bug was the dungeons. If you wanted to finish the game asap, fight your way down the first dungeon. Find the gem fragment Go up one level. Go back down. See the second gem fragment sitting where the first one was (before you removed it). Repeat a further 6 times. Congratulations, you've just found and assembled all pieces and it took you less than an hour from starting the game. Great bit of programming there.

Other major bug I can remember was in the final dungeon. You go in, door locks. A mysterious voice asks you some riddles. Get them wrong and you lose. You're stuck in there 'for eternity' (whooooo). Problem? IIRC, said riddles were answered during the game, but only if you talked to the right people in the correct order - and even then you weren't told they were important (& so very easy to miss). Second problem? It automatically saved upon entering the room. So you couldn't even find out the riddles, load up your old game and then search out the answers before heading in.
Solution? Start again from scratch. yay.

And this was before internet, so you couldn't even check on-line for walk-throughs.

The new Elder Scrolls certainly continues this great tradition of releasing games half-finished(or should that be half-assed?). At least now we can d/l the patches.

I had this very odd glitch in Madden 2005 (PS2) just now: I was doing a run play, and broke loose into the secondary and went all the way towards the end zone, but all of a sudden my player teleported to the other end zone with a linebacker right in front of him and was tackled for a safety. This really pissed me off, since it was the final seconds of the game and the score was tied.

Goldeneye, glitches and all, was an excellent game. I have many fond memories of that game.
