AP NSL is an eye opener
If what I'm being taught right now about how of the Constitution was actually created, and the motives that were behind it, then my understandings of it have been fundamentally altered.

The Constitution was a compromise between the Virginia plan, and the New Jersey plan. I knew a little about this before, but this got clarified during the class.
The government is meant to be somewhat isolated from the public, to prevent public passions from interfering with the government. This wasn't a big surprise as it makes sense.
The major thing for me though was that the Constitution, until the Bill of Rights, was not meant to have much dealings with civil rights, instead it would mainly uphold political freedom for educated white property owners. Granted, I knew about the 14-16 ammendments, and Woman's Suffrage not occuring until 1920, but still...

Considering that AP NSL is supposed to be an advanced course I'm learning less than I thought I would, but then again its only the third week since school began...
