The Electon is tomorrow, and Tony has resigned

So, who do you vote for?

Menzies Campbell ftw!

(I am aware this is near impossible... it's just to see who you'd prefer has Prime Minister)

Even if Tony did resign tomorrow, which he won't, and the Acting PM Prescott called an election, which he wouldn't, the chances of me voting for an ancient Chinese vase are about as likely as President Bush being remembered as the greatest US President ever.

can't vote in UK elections.

Probably Cameron. Even though he's totally full of it.

Brown is actively evil, and Campbell is incompetent.

I would go for Brown. Allthough the conservatives and the labour party are pretty much exactly the same. The liberal democrats are only different in incompetance.

Unless you live in Witney, Kircaldy and Cowdenbeath, or North East Fife then you can't vote for any of them, let alone have the option from all three.

Well, we can't have people thinking the UK is one of those funny countries where you actually get to vote for your leader.

Well, you do vote for them, but in a very indirect way. The only way we could vote for them individually is if we established an Executive independent of the Legislature, and placed all the Executive power in the hands of the one person, rather than the Cabinet.

While the latter would be little more than a recognition of the status quo, the former would take quite a Constitutional shake up.

We could have a referendum at the same time as the general election which would decide who is asked to form the government.

General elections decide which party the people want to be in government, which is fair enough, but a poll like this just gives the false impression that we vote directly for the PM.

Of course, it's not that NI has any say at all, what with the three main parties not standing here and thus not giving us the opportunity to vote for which party we want to form a government.

None of the above?

Brown is too socialist, Cameron is a rampant populist with no principles at all, and judging by his vast presence so far, Campbell would likely do bugger all. Unfortunately, Griffin, Kilroy-Silk, Galloway, and the void where a Green Party leader might be if they hadn't set up some sort of collective all sound even less appealing, and I'm staying well away from the various indepedence parties.

I really don't like any of them at all. I suppose in the end I'd vote for the Liberal Democrats despite Menzies Campbell being a silly old man with delusions about becoming Prime minister. He should never have orchestrated the Lib Dem coup d'etat. Charles Kennedy was a lot more popular than him.

Menzies Campbell is the only one of these three with integrity.I like him(not as much as charlie kennedy, but he was, after all, a drunk)Unfortunatly there is next to no chance for a third party to win due to the british first past the post system(Proportional representation forever)

Brown? Socialist? My arse! He's just a Thatcher-lite Blairavik, like the rest of them. I'll be able to vote in the next election (assuming it's after this Christmas Day:D) and I really don't think it's worth bothering. In my constituency I have the choice of centre/centre right Labour and the Tories, the Lib Dems who have the worst leader ever, or the BNP/UKIP.

And it really doesn't matter who I vote for because I live in a Tory safe seat. Gotta love democracy, eh?

The agony of choice. Brink back Charles Kennedy!

If you had PR and a PM elected by Parliament (as opposed to automatically being appointed by the Queen) then the views of the NI electorate would have to be taken into account - to form a government the Cabinet would proably have to get support from the NI parties to win their votes, and take office.

Labour would probably get support from the SDLP, the Tories DUP and Lib Dems are already affiliated with Alliance, so there's no problem there.

You never know - you might get a Northern Ireland Secretary from Northern Ireland. What a radical idea...

i like how the poll options match to the party colours :P

i'd vote Brown as i respect him and think he's done this country good as an economist. not great, and not socialised enough perhaps (and too much beaurocracy etc), but a damn sight better than the tories would... or did. i think the phrase 'best of a bad bunch' springs to mind, which is really the case with most politicians :p

would like to vote for mingy but i'll wait and see how the party fares with him first (so far, not well)

Are you sure Brown would become Leader? After all first there would have to be an election for that first. There are other candidates...sadly none with the balls of Robin Cook it's sad to say.

Claire Short has gone on a googly (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/5346948.stm) which is pretty amusing. Considering she did not have the guts to resign when Cook did. However she is still an ex minister with dirt on Bliar. She has some influence and could well stand for the leadership. Now she won't win but she could draw enough votes to make the real contenders nervous.

As for the other candidates I don't think Cameron has a snowballs chance and Menzies is superfluous.

Short will have a hell of a time winning the Labour leadership, considering they're talking about chucking her out of the Party for her comments yesterday. I heard her on the radio - I'm amazed the media didn't make more of what she said. The part about Blair offering to Brown that he'd go years ago if he'd let Britain go into the Euro under his [Blair's] Premiership was scandelous in the extreme; and yet it wasn't mentioned at all.

Oh Short has no chance but she can influence the leadership election.

The entire New Project deal....it stinks.
