Women! What do you choose?

Okay, you found the magic lamp on the beach and get one (materialistic) wish. What do you get?

Sorry, there was supposed to be a 4th "I'm not a woman, where's the XBox and power tools?" option. Weird.

Shoes don't stand a chance

Which rather surprises me, since jewelry and women's shoes seem to put about an equal dent in my finances... :D (or is that :( ?)

(No, they're not for me, silly!!)

I really don't like jewelry, I hardly even wear my wedding ring.... I could care less if I never got another piece.

Shoes aren't much fun for me either, I have 7 pair, when one wears out I just replace them with something similar

1 black pumps
2 nuetral pumps
3 black boots (with a small heel)
4 running shoes
5 walking shoes
6 mary janes
7 sandles

just a pair for each "outfit type" and not much else........

If you would have asked movies vs. video games....that would have been a hard choice.

there was a question on the radio yesterday "80%of women will buy this in the next month". the answer was "a pair of shoes".

i buy at least one pair of running shoes a year, probably 2, a new pair of sandals for the summer, and maybe one more nonathletic shoe if i have a specific need. flip flops dont count.

anyway. if i had one wish and could only choose from the poll id have to go with the shiny things because they could be sold for cash. i dont need jewelry or shoes. i want more cool technology stuff. a fancy computer, a bigass tv, a portable video device, whatever.

What I don't understand is the female obsession with shoes...it doesn't make one iota of sense to me. Jewelry I can see; it's shiny and rare. Clothes? I suppose; if clothes make the man, I imagine they make the woman as well. But specifically shoes? I don't get it, but then again I speak as a guy who's in a minority for owning two pairs of sneakers (don't look at me; I almost never buy shoes. I never have to; other people buy them for me.)

I expect a few women to say, "Stop stereotyping us!" or "I hate buying shoes!" but there are plenty out there who can't get enough of them.

I buy a pair or two of running shoes every year, plus a pair or two of shoes for work (usually black pumps and black sandals). If I need them, I'll buy a pair of dress sandals. Like Ashmoria said, flip flops don't count.

"World peace" was an overly subtle reference to the movie Miss Congeniality. And no, we don't have to be serious all the time (I myself try to laugh as much as possible every day), nor is it hard to choose between two options. I just didn't care for the two options, is all. My creed:

You can have everything. I have a lots of shoes, yes, like 40, more or less, but I have a lot of clothes too. My work usually asks that my outfit is varied enough. My tastes ranges for the typical high heel sandals to knee high boots, depending on my mood. I like buying shoes, because choosing the right pair of shoes can give you the edge with the right outfit.

Regarding shiny things, well, I have enough of those, although I usually just wear a pair of rings, a necklace and earrings. I don't buy them, I expect other people to give them to me as gifts. For example, right now, I use a former compromise ring in my right hand and my graduate ring in my left. The pearl necklace I am wearing is inherited from my mother, and I wear a small silver bracelet with the flags of Spain and Venezuela, a gift from a diplomatic advisor I once invited to my show.

I buy at least two books per month, and I hardly buy a pair of new shoes every four months or so, so I am pretty sure more of my budget goes to reading than to my feet. I don't wear too expensive shoes, in any case, although I prefer variety. Tech gadgets like my cell phone, my palm, my personal computer and my iPod consume more money than my physical appearance. Oh, and theatre and concert tickets, consume a lot too (when I actually pay for them, that is rare). I would prefer a nice go out with a friend to go to a movie or a show, eat in a fine restaurant and buying a book than just another pair of shoes.

You forgot to add makeup, face and hand lotions and cremes, and the rest to the poll. Most women I know spend a lot in that too.
