Greenpeace warns against use of Crystal Jelly Double Dong

Greenpeace has issued a warning that the sex toys, Crystal Jelly Double Dong and Spectra Gel Anal Plug contain high levels of toxic chemicals used to soften the vinyl that they're made from.

Phthalates are oil-derived plasticisers commonly used to soften PVC. Research centre TNO examined eight sex toys at Greenpeace's behest, "including dildos, vibrators and butt plugs". It discovered that seven of the items contained high levels of phthalates, including DEHP (di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate) which was last year permanently banned from kids' toys in the EU because of a possible health risk to young children. Why are they mentioning kids' toys in the same paragraph as dildos, vibrators and butt plugs?

Anyway, arent' there any standards for how toxic sex toys can be? One would think that an item meant to be inserted into one's orifices would be regulated for safety.

It's a pity Fass/Baguetten isn't around anymore. Nobody knows more about sextoys than the swedish. *nod* :)

Greenpeace hates everything and everyone. It's what happens when you have too much facial hair.

Probably because, as it states: It discovered that seven of the items contained high levels of phthalates, including DEHP (di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate) which was last year permanently banned from kids' toys in the EU because of a possible health risk to young children. I mean, it makes sense to me . . .

With some things people use to stick inside their bodies, a little poison isn't that big a deal.

With some things people use to stick inside their bodies, a little poison isn't that big a deal.

Of course, the whole point of buying items specifically designed for the purpose is that they will be safe to use.

Personally I suspect that there was a bureaucrat somewhere to thought to himself "if they're using sex toys they deserve to be poisoned." Fuck! There are still states in the US that ban dildos.
