People like to think PC means "we're going to sue you, hump your wife, take away your guns and voting rights, and throw you in prison if you ever remind everyone that the song 'African Descent Flight Capable Feathered Non-Mammal' was originally called 'Blackbird' by Paul McCartney".
They're wrong and it's funny that they think so, but they're still wrong.

I think it's PC, but in another way. It was probably a program that automatically switched African-American for black and no one caught it in the proofing stage. :)

the first post... African American is used instead of Black when describing the color of the armband.

This reminds of a cartoon in the New Yorker I saw quoted in a book once:
We prefer the term "Blacks".
Which has replaced the term "Afro-Americans".
Which has replaced the term "Negroes".
Which has replaced the term "Darkies".
Which has replaced the term "Blacks".
That means they THINK its real ... somehow I dont trust some local hick paper and doubt that the tonight show does more real checking on it beyond that
*sigh* :rolleyes: the point of Headlines is to show mistakes that got past the editor. Mismatched/bad photos and even spelling mistakes in any form of publication.

Still not as good as from the series premiere of "My Name is Earl" where Earl was talking with a guy he used to torment growing up...it turns out the guy was gay, and he made reference to something like that he had never dealt with "a gay" before...but one time after he said "a gay," he corrected himself, nervously saying, "I mean...a homosexual-American."
