Untitled American Holiday

Why does America so dread flipping their 'Word a Day' calendars over to September 11th? Yes, for us it was but a day of uncertainty, fear, and panic. The government declares this day to be 'Patriot Day;' a discretionary day of remembrance. But is this all that today really was those five years ago? Not to me it wasn't. That day was a day where Americans suddenly began to help each other, not out of any sort of ulterior motive, but instead out of simple compassion for fellow man. Even if it meant near-certain death, Americans acted outside their usual Darwinian philosophy of 'May the strongest survive.' Yes, today is a day of remembrance, but more importantly it is a day of helping others, even if it disadvantages you.

Now I don't know about you other Americans, but when I go to work tomorrow, and I see a women drop her purse sending her belongings across the ground I'm going to help her, even if it means I'm going to be late to work. If I see someone's card get rejected at a restaurant I'm going to let them use my card, even if I’m low myself. On days like this you don't leave a penny, but instead you empty your entire jar that's full of them. But don't let such blind acts of kindness go to your head, for tomorrow is Sept. 12th, just another day on the calendar where Americans can go back to being their normal American selves, knowing that yesterday they honored those that died selflessly those five years ago.

Untitled American Holiday is not allowed to be taken part in by non-American citizens. If you suspect Untitled American Holiday is being observed by any non-Americans, do not hesitate to inform the police.

It's no holiday until I get a day off.

How about we just call it F U Osama Day? I too agree, Remembrance Day, Patriot Day, etc. day...It gets annoying. How about we all just remember it for what it was, to each of us, not what they say.
