NS GEneral 2004 Presidential elections.

Ok folks, its time for the NS General forum Presidential election. The election will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2006. Being the most democratic, republican, doctorial, fascist group on NS, the nomination process will start now. The candidate that gets the most nominations will be President for a term of 5 years unless murdered before the end of the term. The candidate that comes in second will be the vice-president. You may nominate two candidates.

I nominate: Fass & Celtlund.

I nominate IL Ruffino and Lunatic Goofballs.

Unless, of course, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is a valid choice.

In that case, I'll nominate LG and FSM.

That British tart Ariddia is gone for now. Time for an American tart to have his system for a while.

But if we have a president, that means that he gets to unilaterally declare what he wants to happen, and no one else really participates. Basically, he'd be talking to himself.

That's why we= have parliamentary elections. Then everyone will be happy talking to themselves.

That doesn't follow: we could have an ersatz governmental system (*spits*) modelled on Ireland or France, frex, which would have both a president and a prime minister.

Death by natural causes is no object to the wielding of executive power? That may explain a lot which was previously obscue about how you Colonials operate. Fricking vampires of Pennsylvania Avenue.

It wasn't for naught that the UK was declared a stake-holder society a few years back.

We may supposedly fear many things: terrorists, fascists and global capitalism, but we shake not in the cold face of the undead.

Death by "natural causes" is not an excuse to abdicate the office. Anyone who dies a natural death while in the office of President of NS General will be obligated to carry out the duties of that office.

Yeah, well, I'm sure you'd agree that Guy Fawkes was actually much more dangerous after he was hung, drawn and quartered. It is relatively easy to kill a man, but killing an ideal is a much harder business.

cf. Wat Tyler and the peasents' revolt, or Bobby Sands MP, for that matter.

I don't like the idea of voting for a DEATed person. As such, Fass would not be a good candidate. :)

Must get round to seeing that film one of these days: I have avoided it for fear of it being another League Of Extraordinary Men or From Hell.

Is it worth two hours of my life?

It's pretty good, I thought the comic was better...

*shrug* I'd say it's better than 95% of the films that have come out in the past decade.

I would nominate Dissonant Cognition...

but since we could rename this "thread 2006 NS Poster Awards", and Sinuhue would win even though she went out in a burst of flames, I don't really care.
