The Religious Conservative party discussing and recruitment thread

The Religious Conservative party.

Mission statement: To protect the interests of all religions of the world, mostly the Abrahamic ones.

1. Life: Human life is sacred, anything possessing the human genome is human, and it’s rights must be respected, if a person takes away another’s right to life, he forfeits his own.

2. Social security: The government has no direct responsibility for charity, as this task falls to the church.

3. Races: All humans were created equally. As such, reparations and affirmative action are useless and wrong.

4. Education: Education is an important part of a child’s life. Funding for education is extremely important, as is making sure that science is not idolized. Religion and science must be given equal time in the classroom.

5. Civil liberties: The freedom to exercise religion and freedom of speech are essential to a healthy government. As such we will support civil liberties that do not offend most religions to the best of our ability. (Note: since worship of one religion is blasphemy to another, we will make no restrictions on freedom of speech, even to the point of blasphemy.)

6.Military: We believe in a well armed, well maintained military, that may be used to topple particularly oppressive regimes, but will mostly be used for defense.

7. Corporations: Must be regulated to prevent a monopoly and the oppression of the innocent.

8. Morality: Certain things, such as drug use, and to a lesser extent fornication, are an affront to the majority of religions, therefore we support measures to keep society from degenerating into a cesspit of sin. Particularly conservative dress and anti-fornication laws.

9. Marriage: Is between a man and a woman.

There's actually not much I could find myself in opposition to in that post...The anti-fornication laws are a bit much, what if someone's religion allows, if not encourages, fornication??

its still a relatively liberal manifesto for a conservative theocracy, no?

"Liberals" don't use hackneyed catch-phrases. Facts are also not misplaced, they are useful.

Conservatives are the ones that oft are found to be reciting whatever they have been told by the people in power.

No, the CHURCH does Charity. :p

So the government legislates directly to protect the 'sanctity of marriage' and even to enforce 'modesty in dress' but not to preserve human life? The preservation of human life is to be outsourced to charities which, by their very nature, can only offer aid on an ad hoc basis?

Methinks your priorities are screwed up my friend.

What about the use of Affirmitive Action/reparations policies to remedy the effects of segregation in individual cases? If, for example, a person was deliberately denied an education due to the segregationist policies of a party in power. Now that person is uneducated for reasons not of his/her own making. How is that remedied? Or is that a case of "not my problem"?

How can you have no restrictions on freedom of speech but stop people from dressing how they please?

It sounds strange, yes, but it isn't really.
The logic is that the party is in favor of things that would be good for religion in general. So: You can say whatever you want, since it's all blasphamy to somebody else anyway, but you can't dress however you want, since there's a general concensus on that among most religions.

Clause 1 of this manifesto is UnChristian as it breaches the sixth commandment - 'though shalt not kill', not 'though shalt not kill unless a properly constituted jury and/or judge decides within the legal framework of a nation's recognised judicial system. Note also that the New Testament admonition to turn the other cheek replaces the Old Testament vow to extract an eye for an eye.

Clause 2 is not biblically justifiable since Christ admonished us to 'render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's', which clearly included tax, which a democratically elected government should be free to use for charity if that was part of its manifesto.

Clause 6 also breaches the sixth commandment as it states that the RCP believes that killing people through the application of armed force is justifiable. Never mind the bit about turning the other cheek

Despite what heretical American fundamentalists would have us believe, Christianity is inherently a left wing pacificist religion, and this manifesto therefore runs counter to the true spirit of Christianity.

I quite like Clause 7, though.
