Is Firefox Really That Good?
I have used Internet explorer for over 6 years, never had any probems with it; but I am still tempted to experiment. is firefox really all that better than IE?
I'm unsure about and a little scared about changing my browser, can anyone help me do it??
I liked the new version of IE 7..But then i had some security problems with it, all of which have been fixed with firefox. Its not that bad. It even has an option to migrate you bookmarks from ie to firefox. So i think its awesome.

I like it... tabbed browsing especially, since I use it for work as well. It makes orientation just a little easier, and I've normally more than enough windows anyway.
I also like the fact that it will block most, almost all pop-ups if set up correctly.

It is great. I love the tab browsing. Here is what you can do; Do not delete IE as there are some sites still that don't work with Firefox. Download and install Forefox. If you make it your default browser you can always change the default back to IE is you want to. You can also import your IE favorites into the Forefox bookmarks (as I recall, it was a little tricky but worked out well.)
Try it I think you will like it. I even use it at work.
I love the tabbed browsing feature, not to mention the little searchbar in the top right corner which does Google searches, Yahoo searches, eBay, Amazon, and Wikipedia, among others.
Firefox uses better interweb tubes than IE.

If you've never had any problems with IE why change? Don't attempt to fix something that isn't broke. In my experience.. I had many troulbes with IE that only stopped once I stopped using it. FireFox isn't perfect but in my case it's damn better then IE.

Excellent question!
I'm using Netscape (I have grudgingly kept IE to fall back on for the few sites that don't work with Netscape).
Has anyone switched from Netscape to Firefox and 1) thinks it was the best decision ever, or 2) went back to Netscape after a week, or 3) thinks it won't make a big difference anyway? I'm willing to be convinced on Firefox, but not if it's buggy and will get on my nerves.
Oh, and I have tabbed browsing in Netscape, too.

You have to disengage IE.
" Internet Explorer is, unfortunately, built into Windows in all versions after 98 and can't be fully removed. " - true. I still have IE when I open up msn messenger .. other than that FF takes over. Sometimes.. depending on the site I need to view.. I have to force IE to open through messenger to correctly view a paticular site. Not often though.

I think it's fabulous. The best things about it (for me at least) is the tabbed browsing, unobtrusive "Find" feature, and the integrated multi-source search box and pop-up blocker which are much better then getting third party plug-ins. There really is no reason not to use it.

The internet is like sex. It feels great; it's wonderful, and even useful. Accessing the internet through IE is like...like masturbating, or having sex on your own. You feel it, but it's always like something is missing, like you're not getting the whole picture. The pop-ups are like your parents bursting in and finding you with your clothes off and your hand in improper places. Firefox...Firefox is the real deal.
...
Okay, VERY poor metaphor. Firefox is truly quite useful, versatile, and much safer to use than IE...for the moment. I suspect that Firefox might become more vulnerable over time as its use dramatically increases. Of course, it has the benefit of being open-source, so problems and security issues are much more easily rectified, not to mention much more quickly.

It is better and more secure than IE! However I wouldn't say it's the best since it is very laggy. I prefer Konqueror, but this gem isn't available on Windows AFAIK. There is a KHTML-based browser for Windows in the making, check that out when it is a bit more feature-rich.

Yeah, suddenly you'd be in a spacious, minimalistically-furnished, whitewashed riverside apartment with LED spot lights, french windows opened onto a balcony, translucent white curtains blowing in the breeze, and Bang & Olufsen home cinema equipment unobtrusively positioned in all corners, matching the jet black leather furniture.
Beautiful young people would stream through the door in a flurry of excited conversation, carrying wine for the dinner party. An indie girl pretty enough to pull off green highlights would whisper something into your ear and dash off into the kitchen.
And on the 50" wall-mounted plasma screen, would be Firefox. Displaying stock tickers on MSNBC - just a quick check, a smile of approval - your friends are waiting!
Don't get me wrong, it's a good product. But when a word-of-mouth success has the potential to go mainstream, that's the sort of bullshit marketing you get.

I officially recommend Opera. It has been the first to include many new features: tabs, torrents, and more. It is also quite secure. For those who are more of a power user, firefox is the better option. No other browser has extensions whcih modify the rowser behavior so drasticly. And then there is about:conf...

Konqueror is crap as a file manager, and crap as a web browser. KDE should have learned from MS's mistake and note make one program for both.

I would recomend Opera, Firefox can be a bit too easy (too many choices on the extentions) to mess-up.
also most of the things ( coming from IE) you need are (in both) the same places. Opera IMHO has a better setup for rss feeds (on the tool bar instead of as a book mark) and I prefer how Opera handles password/forms (you click an icon instead of the info being auto-entered and for added goodness has a torrent client built in ( it treats a torrent the same as any other download). Once you have gotten used to Opera then give Firefox a try. Both are great choices and both have tabbed browsing (this is also a good "boss/wife/parent/kid key" just keep a netural tab open at all times), but for me Opera would be a better choice for someone just switching from IE.
