Poll Incoming soon. I'm just looking to see how many people out there read The Boondocks comic strip or watch the TV series on Adult Swim.

Too aggressive and downright mean for my tastes.

"hilarious genius of a show" raves critics... or just me.

I don't think its any meaner than South Park or The Simpsons. But that's just my POV.

Meh. It's okay. Voted "like" rather than "dislike," but not by that much.

South Park is mocking, typically with parody, but not mean, The Simpsons isn't mean at all, and is actually rather gentle, and rarely attacks actual people. Boondocks is quite realistic and goes out of its way attack directly.

Yeah, I remember reading about the Luther Burger well before I saw it on the Boondocks. It was in an article about another monstrosity called the HamDog--a half-pound burger patty wrapped around a hot dog, deep-fried, served on a hoagie bun with chili, cheese, onions and a fried egg. The Luther obviously beats it because of the Krispy Kreme donuts, but that's still pretty nasty.

"That's Roo-koo. It's French. I'm French with a little splish-splash of Irish."

The whole thing with Ronald Reagan and white heaven was freaking hysterical also.

Now, did you know that the creator of The Boondocks grew up IN MY HOMETOWN in Columbia, MD and bases the strip's environment on Columbia? Columbia is a planned community suburb about 20 minutes from Baltimore and half an hour from Washington DC, and was built with tolerance for diversity in mind, particularly interracial couples?

I think that's great.

I like the comic but I don't think the show lives up to it.

Is that the cartoon about "niggas"? I saw something on Adult Swim one night(4am) that showed 2 young black kids and their grand pa getting into it in a parking lot with a "nigga". Seemed the whole show was based on what a "nigga" was and how to not be a "nigga". I was shocked the show hadn't been crucified.
..If that's the show you're talking about.. if not.. forget what I said and carry on.

The writer/creator preaches against his fellow African-Americans becoming "niggers". He's ashamed of them (not to mention very mad), as they give African-Americans in general a very bad name.

If you ask me, the show delivers a very good message. If you want to see what McGruder really thinks, watch the Martin Luther King episode. Powerful stuff.

*nod* Rap stars are doing to black people as "Blue collar pride" is doing to white people: Preaching anti-intellectualism, and the maintenence of the status quo.

The MLK episode was really excellent, especially the ending...
The "It's fun to dream" line made me kinda sad...

Good for him. About time. I rarely watch adult swim. That night I happen to just be skimming through, as I passed it something they said caught my attention and I went back to it. Ended up watching the rest of that one and the next one. I got the point that was being made, but I was still shocked that the black community hadn't crucified his ass. They shouldn't .. but you know.

Yeah.. just reinforcing a negative stereotype. I can't watch that crap. It pisses me off.. plus it would probably lower my IQ just like the Jerry Springer show would.

Edit: Ahh I forgot Ron White is part of the Blue Collar Comedy .. I like him, he's alright.

I love the Boondocks. It delivers a very strong message in favor of black intellectualism, despite the frequent useage of "the N-Word". For those that haven't seen it, the Boondocks repeatedly and visciously satires "Rap Culture". Not Blacks. Just the "gangsta" attitude, and the aura of willful ignorance that surrounds it. In addition to its social commentary... It's just plain hilarious. :p

(Prior to risking his life) "*hugs* Say good-bye to grandad for me... I love you, man. Bye."
"...Nigga, you gay!"
