How can we have deadly sins but exclude murder? And faces?
So, to keep this out of spam: what would it take for you to kill? Orders, like in a war? Love? Threats? Self defense only?
As for me, it would take something extreme. Last resort in self defense or the murder of somebody I loved. I'd kill in certain situations involving a war but that would depend on a number of things.

It's not? Does this mean I'm retarded?
Edit: OH SHIT... I am....
I don't even have painkillers as an excuse anymore. I'm giving myself a one day forum ban... I deserve it....

Self-defense. Threats would warrant a response of non-lethal force. But once it was clear that the other dude was out to kill me or another innocent person, his life would be forfeit.

same here, really only for self-defense. Really any human can murder, the adrenaline-fueled "flight vs. fight" reaction takes hold in a dangerous situation, moral values get shelved for a while...
So, to keep this out of spam: what would it take for you to kill? I'd like to say a means and a way to get away with it. But I'm squeemish enoguh about stepping on a bug.
Certainly, there's plenty of people I think should be wiped off the surface of the earth. But even given an untraceable push-button solution, which in addition gave me $1000000 for each press of the button, I'd be quite hesitant.

Sometimes I like to kill a drifter to get an erection! :)

Possibly self-defence, but never with intention to kill.
Defense of someone else, possibly, though probably again without intention to kill.
Possibly if someone made someone I love suffer. I can't see that right now, but I can't know how strongly I'll feel for people (first thing in my head being future children) and how I'd react in that situation. I'm not at all violent or aggressive usually. But I am pretty passionate, and care very deeply for people.

In the case of self-defense against lethal force, I wouldn't think twice about it. Neither would I were I to somehow end up in a war. As for other things that could make me deliberately decide to kill, it would take something more or less extreme. A large enough threat could do it.
I would only kill someone if they are going to cause the deaths of innocents. I would, of course, kill a man who is trying to kill me. However, this does not merely extend to myself. I would kill someone who plans to kill another. This includes serial killers (even if I am not the target), terrorists (eg Nasrallah), and evil dictators (eg Kim Jong-Il). If nonlethal methods are available and have a chance of success similar to lethal methods (for instance if I have a tranquilizer gun and a pistol) I would use nonlethal methods first.
In war, I can reasonably assume that all enemy soldiers are trying to kill me (or at least my fellow soldiers) or are accomplices (supply truck drivers, intelligence officers, etc). Those who have surrendered are assumed to NOT be trying to kill me (unless I have evidence otherwise), so they must be treated honorably.
Finally, I would be willing to execute someone if that person has been sentenced to death by a legitimate court of law.
My guide in this is Jewish Law. And yes, I would kill someone if G-d told me to AND I was certain that G-d was telling me to. See, either said person has it coming, or G-d is testing me like He did with Abraham (though I'd almost certainly be able to figure it out if it was the latter).

Self Defense.
To those who only say self-defense, would you kill to protect a stranger from murder? Let us assume that the situation is pretty clear-cut, and the probability that you would succeed is much greater than the probability that the would-be killer would kill you.

Why would you murder out of self defense? I'm pretty sure no one would fight to the death trying to kill you, so a shot or knife in the leg/arm, or mace and running away would do fine, I think. Or knock them out with a heavy object lieing around. Running away is much better than killing someone.

BTW, I'd do anything to even not hurt the guy. You're in my house with a gun stealing shit? Take it, I won't fight. I'll be sure to remember your description and call the police, but I'm not putting myself or others at risk for a TV.
