According to the report, al-Qaeda is facing a "very serious challenge to its legitimacy" after its terrorist activities in countries such as Saudi Arabia and Jordan, causing a slump in support among Muslims.

Al-Qaeda has failed in its aspiration to win the hearts and minds of the Muslim masses, particularly because there has been a growing discomfort about the association between Islam and violence.

This is really cool. I hope this position gains momentum, with less muslim support, hopefully there will be less attacks, less loss of life, less islamophobia, a Win-win situation. I'm sure Bin Laden has got plenty of support in afghanistan and in the pak tribal belt, so its unlikely he will become easier to capture.:(

This would be a really, really good thing in my opinion.

Now as long as Dear Leader and Olmert don't do anything outright asshattish to trigger the "Bin Ladin was right all along!" sentiment among Muslims who aren't hardcore nutters to begin with we'll be fine.

yes, it would. The main reason terrorists can operate so freely is because the have the support of many muslims, and arab gov'ts. I think gaining the support of muslims and more importantly islamic-country gov'ts is a key factor in winning the war on terror.

Biggest mistake of the Bush Presidency was Iraq. Clear and simple, it was politically ruinous, both at home and abroad, and a causal factor for much of the institutional chaos that is currently shattering any semblance of a Presidency that Bush has left.

Sure, as soon as we drop our arrogance in our foreign affairs in the region and stop bombing everything then this might happen.

Ah yes, the ol' uncle jimbo doctrine: "lookout! Lebanon's coming right for us!"

Bin Ladin likely knows this as well and is aware that Business As Usual with regards to U.S. foreign policy is good for Al-Qaeda. Hence he's trying to keep Dear Leader and Republicans in general in the White House.

That is a good inference in regards to the 2004 video release which likely was calculated to subliminally bombard the voter block with "TerrorTerrorTerror" as well as mobilize the "F***YouSandN*****" voting block who thought voting for Shrub was thwarting Bin Ladin's will.

As if.

And I bet Bin Ladin is just as keen enough on the U.S. political scene to have sent the latest video showing the terrorist training camp and him meeting with the 9-11 hijackers, just to again cloud the voter block with "TerrorTerrorTerror" to encourage re-election of Republican congressmen.

Osama knows who's good for business.

Well, at least we'll have Fearless Leader in the White House to keep us safe right? :p
