I'm not sure if this guy videotaping is military or civilian, but he's still part of the convoy. Shouldn't he be helped by the rest of the convoy instead of being left in the dust? What is the military protocol in these types of situations?

Please do not turn this thread into a discussion about the Iraq war or politics, make your own threads for that.

US Convoy Ambushed in Samarra

Video has recently come forward of an ambush on a US convoy on Sep 20, 2005 in the Iraqi city of Samarra. The video was made by Justin Wheeler, a civilian driver for an American company that transports goods in Iraq. He and 11 other drivers were in a convoy with US military vehicles when they came under attack.

As the convoy came under attack, Wheeler’s truck was hit by gunfire and one bullet that came through the windshield struck Wheeler in the arm. As the attack continued, a supply truck ahead of Wheeler hit an improvised explosive device and flipped over. Wheeler’s own truck then stalled blocking the vehicles behind him. "I can't move, please help me," Wheeler pleads in the video.

The 'truckah speek' might be because he is really a civilian truck driver that works for a company contracted by US forces.

Army Spc. Michael C. Campbell, 34, of Marshfield, Mo. - Convoy hit by IED in Samarra. Taken from http://www.thescreamonline.com/photo/photo4-3/memorialday/index2004.html. He was in a 5T truck apparently in the same convoy and was hit by an IED.

Almost certainly a fake. The recording seems to be far too clear, and the radio lexicon used doesn't seem consistent with SOP.

What would be the point if it was fake anyway? What statement would they be making or what would they be getting out of it?
