Dream
Ahh, one of the classics. Share your dreams! Analyze your's and other dreams!
Here's the one I had last night. I dreamt I was going to school. I got to school same as always. My first class is Physical Education, so I got dressed out (there were random orgies in the locker room), and went into the gym. Apparently, my P.E. clothes instantly transported into Space Marine armor. For our physical activites that day, we had to defend against the Orks. I have control of a heavy bolter. That was fun. But then, for some reason, the Orks suddenly came up with the technology to create a mystical portal into another universe. I was unanimously selected to be the lone guy to follow them in. So, I got pushed in. In the "alternate universe" was a P.C. with one singular program installed onto it, Spore. A mystical floating head above the P.C. told me if I wished to remain alive, I would have to play Spore. For some reason, I didn't want to, but did so in order to stay alive. In Spore, I created a race of flying monkies. Apparently, the mystical floating head decided to create a race of pig-fish. I was transported onto the battle field between the two. I was now a stick figure with a katana. I charged into battle against both sides, swinging my katana like a mad man, eventually killing them all. At that point, the giatn mystical floating head sent a wave of energy at me, waking me up.
Interesting dream, really. I think it might've been the onset of my mom lacing my dinner drink with drugs, or something.
Anyways, now YOU get to post YOUR dreams!

Maybe someone can tell me why the dreams I have are nearly never in first person but rather in third-person. The few times, I dream in first-person-perspective are always scary!

Ha. Were you playing Dawn of War before you went to bed?
I had a dream - I was watching The Young and Restless when my Dad shot a fireball at me. What does it mean?
That's weird because I only dream in first person.

I had a dream last night, and while I can't remember much of the details, I do remember that it was animated (yeah, as in 2-D ink and pencil drawings that only "suggest" normal human forms, as opposed to truly portraying reality).
It ended with me and my pet lobster (from when I was 7; long, stupid story behind that) leaping off a bridge and falling to our deaths while Fallen by Sarah McLachlan played in the background.
I think that these sorts of dreams are my minds way of requesting I not watch so many movies and cartoons at 2 in the morning.

I rarely dream, and when I do, it’s usually about me having sex. Can't ever even remember anything about the person or persons involved.
I had this the other night (I actually woke up to it at 3 am and wrote it down)
I started the dream by talking to them and lending them a copy of Stephen King's It, except that it wasn't really, because the description was completely different, it was about some monster that would turn people's fingers into straight razors. Then after lending the book, I went on a Star Trek away mission, we went down to this very dreary planet. It seemed that Q had offered Riker a rescue from this planet if he stuck around for a year, and me and Riker seemed to become interchangable from here on out... I asked Worf if it would be possible to survive in such a place for that long and said it would be possible, but did not seem to think me capable of it.
Then somehow, I turn back into me (but still with the rescue offer) and we're on the same planet, but it's run by some intelligent reptillian species that ride dinosaurs around and the like, except that it's like Earth, if society had crumbled or something, so there's all the comforts one would associate with civilization except that they don't work except for the places that are controlled by the reptiles. I ran into someone else, a girl I'd never seen before, and we went to go get food, apparantly these reptiles had really poor sight so they're not too hard to evade. We went to this place, it was a big hall but it had the atmosphere of a bar. A pirate asked me why I'd thrown gunpowder at him and light a match in a previous encounter, I didn't remember doing so, but I did it again and then ran away to the kitchen in the back where I found a freezer with a number of desserts I'd had earlier (I can't remember when I had them) I took the desserts and got out of there. It seems there was an underground shelter where a lot of people were hiding. There was even a bus route for this shelter so it was pretty safe, or at least thought to be. I stashed the bulk of the food and then ate some. I ate a cinnamon bun, and offered bites of it to the group of people I found, who were people from the band in highschool oddly enough. Then we were going to this place (I was never clear on what it was) we hopped on the bus, but the next thing I knew this girl and I were walking through a house, there were a pair of the reptile people on dinosaurs in one room, but we quietly snuck past them and into another room which had two chairs and a table on one side and a piano and some plants on the other. Suddenly some smaller dinosaurs came through the room, she dove to the side with the chairs, I dove towards the piano. Fortunately it didn't make musical noise, but it made enough of a thump to catch attention. One of the smaller dinosaurs came closer to me, it was right on me, I held it and snapped its neck, I saw my companion sneak off behind them, probably saving her own ass. Another small dinosaur approached and I did the same. Then one of the bigger dinosaurs approached my feet, I was going to wait for it to come closer and do the same as another one approached my head, I snapped its neck.
Then I woke up, I'm not sure if I was unable to move or simply unwilling... but I didn't for a while.
Then I woke up, I'm not sure if I was unable to move or simply unwilling... but I didn't for a while.
Things like that happen to me a lot. For example, one time I was dreaming I was behind a couch, spying on a girl. She was watching T.V. when I looked up to see what she was watching, I saw that it was "snowy" and then I heard a voice saying "The next things you will see will change your life forever." Then I could've SWORN for the love of GOD that I felt a surge of electricty just flow through my body, waking me up. When I woke up, my head was facing the wall that my bed is up against. I heard the same static sound as the T.V., so I simply refused to open my eyes, thinking that maybe that dream really did mean something, and hoping that it would just all go away. Turns out the "static" was actually just my fan on high. Still have no idea where the pulse of energy came from. That actually happens to me a lot, feeling pulses of energy flow through me while I sleep.
And I find it strange that for some reason in dreams it seems as though you have knowledge about things happening in your dream, even though you don't in real life.
For example, one time I was dreaming I was the guy in "The Most Dangerous Game", the one being hunted of course. So I was running my ass off through the Jungle, hoping not to get shot. Then I came upon a ruin. Somehow I immediatly knew it was an elven ruin, and I knew exactly every detail about it. No idea where that knowledge came from. Probably my mind trying to put the odds in my favor.
A dream I had last weekend:
I dreamt that I was guiding a number of people through a resort town high up in the mountains that looked like a cross between Truckee, CA and Karuizawa in Nagano. However, while at an outdoor good store, my wife was kidnapped by aliens driving a white Ford Pinto. Desperate, I called the FBI who sent over Mulder and Scully from the X-Files.
Sadly though, before we could start looking for my wife in the wilds of the Sierra Nevada (where the white Ford Pinto had been traced) Mulder announced that he was dying due to terminal cancer. The only way for him to alleviate the pain was for him to smoke weed. However, the aliens, knowing that this would be a good way to take out a man dedicated to finding them, had managed to kidnap all the college freshmen in California (as they were the ones growing and selling marijuana). So we had to try and track down the last college freshmen in California, a group who was fleeing on foot around Yreka, when I got separated from the FBI team and was picked up by three vampires in a van (who looked a lot like Death in the Sandman series). I was told that each vampire represented a choice; I could die in the past, in the future, or in the present. I had to choose which one would bite me.
However, I managed to convince them that I had a cold and I needed to go to the drug store first so they didn’t catch it, and while I was there I bought garlic drops and swallowed the whole bottle as to contaminate my blood with garlic and making me inedible.
And then I woke up. This is why I say my dreams don’t mean anything, because if they did, I’d be scared.

If I remember my Philosophy professor correctly; then according to Descartes: memory is an aspect of one's physical form (like any other physical sense), and would, therefore, be just as likely to provide false information in a dream as any other sense you possess.
Of course, Descartes was a dick, so take it for what you will.
What it means: You like weed too much.Kinda hard to do as I've never smoked nor would ever smoke anything, let alone weed.

I haven't watched the X-files in years and I never did see the final 3 seasons.
You like the Sandman series too much.
I can accept that.
You like Fords too much.
Not particularly, I've owned two Fords, hated one, liked the other, but love my Japanese cars.
You like Yreka too much.
Been through there twice, once I stopped for lunch, once for breakfast. Both times I wasn't impressed.

People aren't completely sure about this, but I like Dennet's explanation, namely that dreams and hallucinations function much like the party game psychoanalysis. Basically what happens when you try to perceive stuff is you make a guess, and then see if that guess is correct. In reality, this is where perception comes in, confirming or denying based on the real world. In dreams and hallucinations, it confirms or non-confirms randomly. So you didn't ask your brain "is there a ruin", you asked it "is there an elven ruin", and you registered that as a yes.

My dream last night was rather strange.
I was with my ex-girlfriend, at "her house", which was really my house in real life. She was married to this guy we both know, and don't really like. Apparrently we were having an affair, and activities occured that were innapropriate for this forum, but involved soy sauce and sesame oil, for some reason. I went outside, and it was really bright out, and found the town was flooded. A few houses and their lawns had broken off from the land and were floating as islands. I used something wooden to float around, and made it to what seemed like a Burger King, but turned into a Subway later. I was hungry, and made myself food, when people that seemed zombieish (but weren't rotting) with weapons tried to get in and hurt me. I barracaded, but since the building had big windows, they were getting in. I was on the roof all of the sudden, then on the wooden thing again. I floated over to a mall and went inside. All the stores were closed, but it seemed to have a lot of people in it with bags acting normal. I went back out, and it wasn't flooded anymore.
I woke up for a few seconds here, before dozing back off into the dream again.
I was back outside the mall, but since I was vaguely aware of myself dreaming I started flying around. I landed in a "zoo" but it was just a bunch of corridors with white stucco walls. Small animals were floating around, but other than that it wasn't a zoo at all, I just recall it being called that. At the end of one of the corridors there was a very large room with a deep blue lake, and a smaller sized Washington Monument in the middle.
Thats where I woke up for good. The flood is a recurring dream I have at least once a week, and flying is common too when I know I'm dreaming
So, there I was, asleep in my bed. I'm in a dream, dream...what dream?! There was no dream for some time. This made me sad.
Then, I did start to dream. Oddly, however, I dreamed I was Darth Vader. (Since I think that Star Wars is a B-movie series at best, and am a hardcore Trekkie...well, you can draw your own conclusions as to why this was odd.) I was in control of the Death Star, and taking it around to various planets and blowing them up. Except, the planets I was blowing up were FEDERATION planets. That is, Star Trek planets. Vulcan, Andor, Tellar, Bajor, Alpha Centauri, Betazed, all fell before me. Then I got to Earth...and when I lay eyes upon its beautiful surface, that perfect blend of sea and land, the curve of the continents...the sheer wonder...I started crying. I blew up the Death Star rather than destroy Earth, and then I woke up.
Why the hell I dreamt that I have no idea. What do you guys think it could mean? That I turn angry and destroy all things that mean something to me except for the most important of all?(That, I have no idea what it is as of yet.) Or am I reading too much into it?

Well, there's three answers I can give.
One, is that your scifi/fantasy love of fictional destruction is actually some sort of anger or fear you are feeling. But if you gave into that Dark Side, you would eventually find that what you were angry at or destructive toward, was actually something you love. Perhaps this is your mind telling you not to give into the Dark Side of the Force. (Best to start now, rather than waiting til you blow up half the galaxy.)
Two, is that the round planets in your dream represent full, mature breasts. Since you are from Earth, the Earth planet in your dream represents your mother. You are currently acting out against other women in some negative way, but the real reason for that destructiveness/desire/socialization is that you are sexually obsessed with your mother.
Three, is that dreams are really the brainfarts consisting of disordered, imaginative thoughts that seem weird because they have this surreal quality that seems to impart great meaning, but really don't.
Take your pick. :)

I pick number two.:D
Because of the things I have dreamed, i am convinced there is no such thing as fantasy. If what we dream does not happen in this universe, in some fashion, then it must take place in another, somehow, some way, or possibly, another reality.
There was one dream, where I was in a castle somewhere, and this great black Shadow was chasing me, laughing at me. I was so afraid. It was as black as coal, and its voice was awful. No matter where I ran, I could not escape it. I could not escape the castle. everytime I tried, I'd somehow end up in another part of the castle. Fortunatly, I was saved by what I can only describe as an entity of Light.
I'd describe others, but, My wirds cannot describe them. There are no words in the human language accurate enough to describe them.
I base my characters and stories off my dreams, as best I can I bet someone can figure out where i got my shadow characters from.

I think number two would be Freud's diagnoses, only proving what an idiot he is. My mother is not something anyone would sexually obsess over.
Frankly, I lean towards one. It would not surprise me that I am angry or fearful. Being the age that I am, not to mention living the life of emotional immaturity and oversentivity that I have, it's a wonder I'm not a nervous wreck all the time. I used to develop fantasy worlds to delve myself into to escape reality. Perhaps, as I grow older, and closer to finally moving out of my parent's house and living on my own(I'm nineteen) I'm regressing to those earlier habits, because I'm afraid of living on my own, of being by myself all the time. Hell, I've gone so far as to sleep with my old teddy bear Humphrey, something I haven't done in well over a decade. (I haven't slept well lately, and it helps somewhat.)
That's my guess, anyway.

Well, according to Freud it has nothing to do with how sexually attractive your mother is, not to your conscious mind anyway.
Oh well. I'm not a Freudian, but I'm a fan of Freud because of his sexual obsessions and because he had a funny sounding name.

Ah, okay. So it's really about the conflict of leaving the warmth and comfort of home (Earth, a.k.a mother's teat according to Sigmund) versus the callous cruelty and coldness of the Real World.
Not too bad. Maybe dream analysis is useful.

Freud is amusing, I'll grant you that.
And I would say that most assuredly. Dream analysis has proven useful for me when it comes to self-analysis before. Of course, as I am somewhat biased, I always seek out other opinions, hence why I posted that dream here. It has occurred quite often, recently, I should mention. Starting to scare me with its frequency, almost. Rarely do I have recurring dreams in this manner.
Not that I don't have recurring dreams. I've got several that will occasionally show up every few years. A few details might alter themselves here and there in these dreams, but otherwise they'll be exactly the same. One of the few instances where I can actually realize I'm dreaming without waking myself up.

I know that feeling. Just the other day, I woke with a feeling of...inner peace. As if a great deal had been resolved. I, of course, remember nothing of that particular dream that caused it, and the feeling faded after an hour, leaving me in my normal state. Still...it was odd, for a while.

Here is a rather interesting experience I had yesterday:
After a short nap and the incoherent mess that was the dream, I "woke up" (in the dream, though it initially didn't seem so), and found myself sitting in my bathtub, feeling very dizzy and on the verge of fainting. Then I noticed that the water was reddish as if blood had poured into it, and my left arm that was hanging down looked somewhat purple. For a few seconds, I was quite disoriented, then I realized it was a false awakening, and decided to stick around for a little while and see if there was anything more to the imagery. Not finding anything interesting to do, I then decided to wake up for real.

That happens a lot, where in the seconds after I wake up I think something in a dream actually happened, and I'm so screwed because of it.

I had a dream that I was in an F16 fight jet. Another plane fired a missile at the wing. Multiple explosion went off. The cockpit caught fire. I thought "bollocks". So I pressed the eject button, except, I was a thousand miles up in the statosphere, I realized this just as the seat lifted off. So then I thought "double fuck". The end.

This means you are going to become a terrorist........
