I tend to stay away from big budget mainstream movies because I've seen so many of them that turned out to be crap. Hollywood has turned me into a biased movie snob.

Little Miss Sunshine was really an amazing and charming movie. It managed to earn all of its moments, I really enjoyed myself.

Of course I was able to follow that with a midnight showing of Tron...totally kick ass.

End of line.

Er, may I? Duh. :p

But I really liked the first one, and I love Johnny Depp (who doesn't?), so I really wanted to see this.

And then it sucked. That's just not fair. *sniff*

Just saw the remake of the Wicker Man yesterday. It was kinda entertaining, with the exception that you could practically predict the entire plot of the movie from the way too massive foreshadowing (even for someone like myself who hasn't seen the original.)

I was suprised to find out it was Neil LeButte.

Just watched Sugar Hill, which was one of Wesley Snipes first movies. Really a f*cked up movie.

Also just saw Crank, which was pretty cool for an action movie. Plot was even kind of original. And the sex in Chinatown was awesome.

Errr... can't remember the last movie I saw in theaters. Might go see Little Miss Sunshine this weekend though, I've heard good things about it. I rented Munich last weekend, and that was good, but not the masterpiece of film my friends made it out to be.

I haven't seen a film at the theater since last Xmas when I saw Walk the Line while back home. (The US$15 ticket prices here in Japan may possibly have something to do with it.)

I was talking with a friend about seeing the remakes of Japan Sinks and Everyone But Japan Sinks. The first was a 1970's disaster flick. It spawned a parody. Both have been remade this year and are in theaters here now. I really want to see the latter, as it sounds hilarious - especially the showdown between refugees President Bush and Kim Jong-il in a Japanese bar.

Recent movies? No, not really. Finally watched all of Ball of Fire, starring Barbara Stanwyck and Gary Cooper, the other day and it was great. :D

I saw Crank on Sunday and was surprised at how decent it was. Yes, its stupid and the plot is ridiculous (and not all that original, D.O.A. had the same set up, as well as, I have been informed, some British movie from the 90's that I can't remember the name of), but it manages to have a goofy, fast-paced charm to it.
And, because I needed some "class" to cover for having enjoyed Crank, I watched Chinatown, a classic noir.
But the best movie I've seen in the past couple weeks was Save the Green Planet, a Thriller/Mystery/Torture-Horror/Sci-fi/Comedy/Tragedy/Drama/Action movie from Korea.

I saw Crank on Friday. It was pretty cool, and worth the money I spent on the tickets. Plus afterwards me and my friends went to an amazing asian restraunt.

little miss sunshine was an awsome movie, saw it a couple weeks ago i think you may still be able to find it in theaters. i know i plan on getting it when it comes out on dvd

clerks 2 was a good movie as well. but thats more if you are able to laugh at such movies, you kind of have to go in with an open mind and to not get offended ( i knew people that actually hated it because it was "offensive")

Went to "Barnyard"....It could have been a really good movie and might be for city people. BUT whoever made this movie has never seen a farm. They actually put udders on bulls and had more bulls than cows. And that's just the most obvious. For city kids it would be a great movie, but out here in the rural area it was the entire theater calling out stupid mistakes.

I think the last GOOD movie I was "V for Vandetta" on DVD.

However, the last BAD movie I saw was "Last House on Hell Street".

It.....really, really sucked.

Within the last few months:

Silent Hill - loved much of it. Great atmosphere, but missing something to those who've not played the games.

Battle Royale - good movie which delivers morals, suspense, and drama.

Pirates of the Caribbean - 2.5 hours that went nowhere but looked really good. Felt like I was dropped into the second quarter and pulled out before the fourth.

Snakes on a Plane - simply fun. Parody that never winks.

V for Vendetta - cool and clever. Spent the next couple days picking apart its symbolism and parallels.

I work in a movie theatre*, so I've seen a good number of recent movies...

Talladega nights kicked ass, accepted was pretty decent, snakes on a plane is a must see.

Clerks 2, not showing here anymore sadly, was the best movie to come out for months.

*Today was actually my last day working, but im still technically an employee for one more week.

saw V for Vendetta a couple of weeks ago. goooood movie! (V's first monologue where he uses INSANE alliteration was one of my most favorite parts!) nice plot, excellent twist, and it's also a "pretty" movie to watch, albiet in a somewhat dark way.

finally got around to seeing The Transporter. it was your typical good action-focused movie, kinda stupid, though my friends and got kicks from pointing out the homoerotisism in it (one of em said "It's almost like they were seeing how much they could get away with before straight guys starting thinking it was gay..." :D )

now, it's been a while since i've seen it, but the original Twelve Angry Men is one of my all-time favorites - even thoughit takes place entirely in the deliberation room of a jury!

movies i haven't seen but heard are really good are Gaia and Trainspotting.
