Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Either you've got a date wrong, or you're being tricky. Knowing you, I suspect the latter.

Nope.
That song is the only reason I know who Coven is though.
I loved that movie (The Legend of Billy Jack) when I was a kid.

Not really, they were an early influence on the whole Satanic Rock scene, but they werre a one hit wonder for a soundtrack song that was really a folk tune, not even rock.

Yeah, I know, silly me thought he was just trying to confuse people. Black Sabbath's selftitled came out only a year later (but I believe it was recorded in '69).

And what a damn fine piece of whimsical psychedelia crossed with heavy rock and peppered with B-grade Satanism it is. Quite possibly the first LP to contain the line 'Kiss the goat'.

Now go and hunt out the cover of it by the mighty mighty Killdozer on their For Ladies Only LP. Nice.
