Heard anything stupid lately?

Compulsive Depression

I've heard two things which have taken stupidity Above and Beyond today.

Firstly, my girlfriend applies for a job at Kettering Borough Council. They email her to ask for her email address.

Secondly, a guy at work 'phones Corby JobCentre Plus. "Hi, I'd like to place an advert."
"For a job?" they ask.

We get all the bright sparks around here.

Any of you heard anything stupid recently?

Any of you heard anything stupid recently?

I recently listened to the speeches by Bush and Blair "explaining" how Iraq had to be invaded because they had the capacity to launch WMD against us all - according to Bliar, in 45 minutes. it sounds even more stupid now than it did then.

Open any random thread in NS General, look through the first three pages. You're almost certain to come across something mind-blowingly stupid. I know few places more indicative of the depths of ignorance in which so much of mankind wallows.

I go and make a nice thread about people saying silly things and you have to bring politics and religion into it. Tsk. Although they're both fields where a lot of silly things are said...

We swim in a sea of stupidity. Theres no avoiding it, so eventually we become desensitized to it. It has gotten so bad, that now we have to have it pointed out to us.

Consider this: The more intelligent and educated one is, the less likely one is to have children, and when the intelligent have children, they usually have fewr than the less intelligent/educated. I wonder how many people realize that his means that humanity is actually breeding for stupidity. It is the only way we can sustain our consumer/pop culture based society.

Why evolve towards higher intelligence when you can survive without it? From an evolutionary perspective, it's a waste of energy to power unneeded brain activity.

In conclusion, humanity sucks. Or something like that.

Well, their better dressed brethren in the Council of Conservative Citizens are certainly welcome in the Republican party. Major Republican politicians have spent a lot of time with them over the last few decades as they successfully wooed them away from the Democrats.

Well yea, it's the Republican Party. I actually never was a part of that party myself, I went from Democrat to Libertarian. TO me, the Democrats and Republicans are diffrent side of the same coin, or however that phrase goes. Personally I don't want anything to do with the radical Conservatism, mainly because I think they give true Conservative a bad name. To me True Conservative follow Goldwater example, and stick by what the original Modern Conservative movement was about.

Under "normal" conditions (that is to say a free-market, law of the jungle type scenario) the less educated would have to reproduce at a higher level, because their young would be less likely to survive long enough to reproduce than the young of the better educated.
However, this is somewhat thrown off by having a society constructed like the current one, in which survival is the default option for underachievers.
