I quote the stand-up comedian 2 the Ranting Gryphon:

"It all started a long time ago. I was just a little gryphlet then. I went outside to play, and I saw a bunny, and it was cute, and it looked at me, and it had these big lifeless cute eyes, and the bunny said, "I am cute", and my face said, "AHHHHHG!", because it burned! And I said, "Bunny! Why are you burning my face?" And the bunny said, "Because I want you to chase me and strangle my cute eyes out of their sockets!" And I said, "Okay!" So I took a step towards the bunny, and it hopped away. So then I ran towards the bunny and it ran away. AND I NEVER CAUGHT IT! So now, whenever I see a bunny, I must squeeze it to pieces before it burns my face with cute! I don't hate bunnies. MY FACE HATES BUNNIES!!!"

So my answer to your question is, bunnies are too cute!

Bunnies are cute, in gravy.

Cute little tasty bunny.

Herb Roasted Rabbit and Potatoes

4 lbs. rabbit, cut into 8 pieces, rinsed and patted dry
8 med. red potatoes, quartered
24 lg. cloves garlic
6 T. olive oil
4 oz. slab bacon, rind removed and cut into 1" cubes
6 T. fresh rosemary leaves OR 2 T. dried rosemary
2 tsp. coarsely ground black pepper
coarse salt, to taste, optional
6 sprigs rosemary, for garnish

Preheat the oven to 400.

Place the potatoes and garlic cloves in a lg. shallow roasting pan.
Sprinkle with 1 T. of the olive oil, and toss to coat. Bake for 30
mins.

While the potatoes and garlic are roasting, combine the bacon and 2 T. of the oil in a lg. skillet, and place over low heat. Cook just until the bacon begins to wilt. Then remove the bacon with a slotted spoon, and set it aside.

Saute the rabbit, in batches if necessary, in the skillet, setting the pieces aside as they are browned. Reserve 2 T. of the pan drippings.

Remove the roasting pan from the oven, and reduce the heat to 350.

Add the rabbit, rosemary, pepper, coarse salt, reserved pan drippings, and remaining 3 T. oil to the roasting pan with the potatoes and garlic. Toss thoroughly, and return the pan to the oven. Bake for 20 mins.

Sprinkle the reserved bacon over the top, and bake until the meat is tender and the vegetables are golden, another 20 mins.

Arrange the mixture on a warmed platter, and garnish with the rosemary sprigs.

I have found that the best place to get rabbit for eating is the local animal shelter.

Very fat rabbits, that have had little exercise (so they're tender), and you know they've been eating a constant diet of kibble (so they don't taste gamey).

Cheaper than buying chicken.

But if you'd like to know...I have been taking part in two moose hunts. Exciting stuff... but you have to make a clean lugn shot here, so I just watched the animal through the scope... didn't wan't to turn for me. So... basically, you target bunnies and ducks? That's mildly ironic...

Wow, luckily I wan't drinking anything when I read this! :D

Indeed. Waiting someone to say why hunting, when done for the benefit of the wild animals, is bad. Maintaining manegeable moose/deer stock in Finland is done by hunters. I'd be happy to hear a better solution... cars hitting deer/moose doesn't seem to be it, because it leaves us with teary eyed orphans... I rather endure dozen of you teary eyed animal rights people before one person made orphan by a deer crossing road. Feel free to suggest a new solution.

Rabbits... how many per acre for them to be happy? Somebody has to kill part of them in order for them to be able to live the happy, bi-sexual, rabbit life... We don't have enough wolves and foxes anymore (no, we didn't hunt those - it's a by-product of urbanization) to take care of them... so the solution is? I'm waiting... Hell, the whole country is.

Birds? I just kill them because it's aces.

You bet your sweet ass! Bunnies are the cutest thing out there! Of course, sometimes they can be vicious and deadly. I've lost family members to those evil bunnies. *Shakes fist* DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU TO HELL!

*shrug* I didn't say hunting was bad. Hell, I'd do it myself, except I live in the 'burbs and I don't have a gun. :(

Excuse the rant, but it seems it is the kids from the 'burbs, with little knowledge about the wild, who are often telling the people who know about the wild animals what to do.
Not you, obviously.
Cruelty towards animals is teh sucks. Hunting does not need to be - and often isn't. And I'm way off of topic. Bunnyducks still rule! G'Night.

Bunny's are cute untill you have seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail, after that it makes it easier to kill them.
I have found that spit-roasted bunny with some white BBQ sauce (like used for chicken BBQ) is very tasty. But nothing beats the taste of fresh Bambi's parents.

Bunny's are definitely cute, and eating them is nowhere near as rewarding or delicious as eating Bambi's parents. Just have to agree that a nice, well cooked piece of venison leaves bunny stew way behind in the eating stakes.
