Well, Alpha radiation usually isn't bad for you (unless the source is already inside your body. ahem...) but it certainly is never good for you. Beta and Gamma radiation on the other hand, are always quite bad for you.

Check the site. There are Japanese products in 2005. Leave it to Japan to create a market for stuff the world stopped producing decades ago. And not only that, but the radiation count is higher in the Japanese products, though I don't know anything particular about the material they are using.
