Tongue made from buttocks
A Polish man who had his tongue removed has had a new one made using tissue taken from his buttocks.
Jarislav Ernst, 23, from Gliwice, now has a functioning tongue made from his backside after surgery at the Oncology Clinic in Gliwice's General Hospital.
Head doctor Stanislaw Poltorek said: "The new tongue is alive and well-supplied with blood, and the patient is doing well."
Mr Ernst's tongue was removed after it was diagnosed with cancer.
Dr Poltorek added: "We removed the tumour-filled tongue, checking that there were no remaining cancerous cells around the patient's mouth, then collected skin, fat and nerve tissue from the man's buttocks and modelled that into a new tongue, which we sewed into his mouth."
Now this gives a whole (pardon the pun) new dimension to reconstructive proceedures.Who's the first to pucker up for a kiss??:p

I assume the tissue (wasn't used-I'm sorry that was gross I just couldn't resist) was cleaned before and would be sanitary!!! However I can't say I'll be jumping over hospital beds trying to give him a smooch!

Actually, the buttocks are quite clean compared to other tissues of you body like the hands and mouth. So technically his mouth should have become more clean then it was before...
Whats with all the toilet related threads? This one. The one on whether you fold or scrunch your loo paper and the breakings news for the toilet where a CNN reporter reported a bit too much! What has happened to all the religious homophobic anti abortionists??????????

Its really kinda cool,the guy has a tongue again, and he can make all kinds of jokes about taking from the arse.I wonder if he has a girlfirend,she will be kissing his arse(enough bad puns now!!god they were bad)I wonder if he can taste things now....probably not...does he have a tongue shaped hole on his bum?

I would be suprised if he could, at least not with the new parts since they don't have any nervs that could detect taste. No nerv=no taste. I would say it's more of a cosmetic operation, and also perhaps so he can speak normally, altough I guess it will be hard to do that in the beginning.
