Inside a Bolivian prison

Here's a fascinating photo-journal from the BBC on a prison in Bolivia:

I can't really add much to it, so hope it's not considered spam.

I did like the bit about how tourists used to be allowed to come in, until it was found they were mostly there to buy cocaine - said to be the purest in Bolivia (which in itself is saying something, surely)

Think a prison like this would work well elsewhere?

awwwwww they don't allow tourists in anymore??

Thats how that british guy made enough money to bribe his way out - taking tours inside the prison.

There's this, (http://www.geocities.com/thomas_hobbs/words/bolivia.html) which is similar to what I'm thinking of, but he doesn't seem to be a brit.

THis is better than just having cells, because then they have some type of society within the walls of the prison, so none of them experience culture shock when released back into "society".

Isn't the point of prison to be punishment!? What an interesting article.
