Seeing as I made a "Worst Choice" thread...

Who would be the BEST person for US President 2008? It can be anyone, even if they do not fit the qualifications (and dead people count. Let's just say they came back from the dead for this...)

The "best choice" would be abolishing the office altogether, but as for people... damn, I don't know. Whoever's a radical libertarian socialist and wants the job least.

That's a pretty wide range there. I'd never have put those two in the same category.

For me--and I'm voluntarily limiting myself to people who might actually run--I'd go with Russ Feingold for the moment.

I think I would be the best person.

Now....to change my birth certificate so it says I'm American and get the Democratic nomination....

I'd vote for him if he wasn't a protectionist.

Personally, I'd say Rudi Guiliani (sp?). He did a damn good job in NY, and he's a strong moderate with perhaps a slight libertarian bent in terms of the economic v. social freedoms plane, though not the law+order axis.

Giuliani's hostility toward the arts while he was mayor was what sent me past the bend with him. He was always a little too authoritarian for my taste, but when he threatened to cut the Brooklyn Museum's funding because he didn't like something they had displayed, I had it. And frankly, while he was a good symbol during the 9/11 aftermath, that's pretty much all he was--a symbol. I think he gets a bit too much credit for that.

that sounds about right.

There was a joke a while ago...CBS is going to make a movie about Giuliani...Everyone will hate him untill the last 30 seconds.

I’d vote for someone who’s an economic pragmatist and a social libertarian, but alas those people generally don’t participate in politics. Far too intelligent to dirty themselves in such a manner.

Oh for the love of all that is good, NO!

As for me...I have and always will say Colin Powell. Of course, that would be a fantasy run. In reality...eh...to be honest, I can't think of ANYONE currently in politics that would really be good at the position.

Feingold.

Most of the other Dems are either wimps, or not experienced enough for the post. I wouldn't trust Republicans with any position of authority.

If it had to be a Republican, I'd want a moderate like Guilianni.

I'm fairly certain Tony Blair would like a shot at it.

I think you should let Arnie take over. Can you imagine the terrorists daring to attack America if they saw a picture of President Terminator coming at them?

As hilarious as it would be to have President Arnold Swarzeneggar, it's impossible. He's not an American native, and thus the highest office he can hold is governership. Frankly I think that's a load of shit and they should open up the Presidency, but that's just me.

Me me I will be your President. Even though I am only 21 I think that silly over 35 rule can be abolished!

Seriously I don't know who is the best Choice. I used to be a big Hillary supporter. Not so much now, I think in all honestly no matter who runs they'r not gonna be great (or as great as I could be).

Jimmy Carter, did better in the mid east than anyone since. And a real Christian not a neo-pharisee.

Actually possible but not likely, Colin Powell. Too bad he won't run as a Democrat. Could get nominated as a Democrat but not as a Republican.

A paradox - the people who know best how to run a government won't participate in it. Perhaps this is an indicator of the legitimacy or necessity of anarchism.

Clinton. I just want to see him debate against Bush. It'd be like having Muhammad Ali fight... well, Dubya.
