Considering my career is based in free expression, it's not really that difficult of a choice.

Freedom to f***. It's not common in most countries, you know. You gotta be married or something. Then freedom of speech so I can spread my evil agenda...*evil grin*

Most of those freedoms could be done away with. Seriousley. And the police could be a little more corrupt, then we wouldn't have to deal with the war against drugs OR make them legal, besides, the price of enchilada would go right down.

I can't decide, so I vote 'other' and make up my own: "The freedom to live my life and find my meaning as I please, without unwanted interference from others."

Purposely stupid question on the poll:
Is "freedom to porn" the right to look at porn or the right to act in porn?
Cause I kinda doubt you'd get many votes on it if you mean the second one.

Obviously you never dealt with the courts. This one is a total myth.

The freedom of self-delusion. It is the most widely practiced, and indeed it is the only, freedom humans have in the modern world.

Freedom of speech. It means that I can discuss my opinions with like-minded and not so like-minded people, and it means I can campaign to create and protect other rights I ,and other people, should have.

Freedom of speech is overrated. Frankly, I don't care about freedom of speech if the alternative is to live in a dictatorship, a theocracy or get a biased and unfair trial. I can live with not expressing my views aloud.

I believe you used the wrong form of bear/bare in your poll. Bare means naked, bear, besides a large furry mammal that will eat you, means to carry, or carry before. So, the right to bare arms just means you don't have to wear long sleeve shirts.

I do believe your right. However for some reason my English skills lessen the later it gets and the more drunk I get. I'm lucky I was able to put this thread together with it making sense for the most part.

Freedom of Speech - Very important. Getting arrested for saying "Dubya is a fool" or, worse, for saying "I don't care one way or another about the government" is just wrong.

Freedom to/from religion - Definitely important. Worship whatever/wherever you please. Just don't drag me into it.

freedom to porn - While it's important to some, it's merely a subset of other freedoms. Try this for an experiment, though: Lock a bunch of Pat Robertson followers in a room with a bunch of angry feminists. Bring up abortion. They will tear each other to bits. Then wait for it to die down, bring up porn, and all of a sudden, they're on the same side.

freedom to vote - Very useful, but needs to be done right. This pseudo-oligarchy we have in the U.S. just isn't cutting it.

right to fair legal procedures - Well, duy. "Innocent until proven guilty" is a great idea, assuming the juries need to presume anything at all.

freedom to bare arms - The Constitution is perfectly clear. Everyone has a right to hang a pair of bear arms on their wall.

freedom to drink alcohol - Not so important. At least not to the extent that people use it against other people.

freedom to marry - Not at all. Rather, the freedom not to marry is more important. In fact, I would go so far as to say the government should back out of all marriage and leave it up to churches. It also needs to protect those who decide to leave relationships.

freedom of press - The press, media, etc. should have the freedom to do whatever it pleases except lie.

other - This is the most important freedom of all. If we couldn't Other, what would we do?

The right to fair legal procedures. Or to be more accurate, the right of access to fair and unbiased courts.

Without that right, you don't have any others. Period. Consider the constitution of the Soviet Union; among other things, it promised freedom of speech, assembly, travel and free and democratic elections. What turned it into a complete sham is that there was no way to secure your rights; the average person had no access to the courts, which were totally political anyway. It didn't matter that you "had" those rights, since you had no way to force anyone to allow you to express them.

There is exactly nothing to prevent Congress from passing a bill outlawing freedom of speech, instituting a national church , and restricting you to your home. Should such a bill be passed, the Administration has the obligation to enforce it. Only the courts can then say: "Unconstitutional." But even they cannot act if no one complains.

We have the right to complain, and to make our complaints heard. That's the most powerful right of all.

Definitely the right to vote, what's more important than to vote?

Choosing the party you want to lead your country is much more important than freedom of speech in my eyes. It's just too overrated, that's all. Of course it's still very important freedom.
