Ethnic Minority Day!

Today, the 29th of August is regarded by me and a few close friends as Ethnic Minority Day, the one day out of 365 where Ethnic Minorities around the world are celebrated for the intriging cuisine and funny accents, the day where Ethnic Minorities can take the piss out of the Ethnic Majorities for being 'common'

It's just a silly day that we concocted as a way to annoy our teachers at high school whenever we decided not to work (But don't you know? It's Ethnic Minority Day, the one day out of the year which forces you to put your pen down for a week and have a small break! As much as we'd love to do work, we can't break this ancient, yet time-honoured tradition.)

My question to you is: Have you ever attempted to create a small holiday simply as an excuse to get out of work, or out of sheer boredom?

I hope I didn't offend anyone with the post, for I am an ethnic minority as well.

Cheers, Dimmy52

When we were at shcool we had the annual celebration of the anniversary of the Jumping Off The Table Revolution. It originated in a history class:

Mr Kosmaczewski: [climbs on to table] So what is a revolution? [jumps off table] That wasn't a revolution. [continues with lesson]

Three words: Muck Up Day. A time homoured tradition at our school where the leavers always do something on their final day that just messes up the day for all teahers and students. It has grown so much that the school as started hiring bouncers. Last years leavers all dresed up as pirate drove their cars onto the sports field and kidnapped a boy and made im walk the plank into a pond. This year is me and my friends will continue this tradition. A few ideas have been thrown around such as hiring a circus to set up on the field, filling the main corridor with washing up liquod and then water to create a foamy wonderland, hang a giant net of eggs from the school hall ceiling and releasing it...any more suggestions would be welcome. :D

Indoor snow machine. Remove all the teacher's desks and hold them hostage. Make corridor floors alternately very sticky or very slippy.
