First of all, this guy is NOT a Conservative, but a Republican. But secondly, this isn't a first. Conservatives, like Machiavelli (read Discourses, not The Prince) believe peace is good for a reason, and war is good for a reason. One sould not go to war without a very good cause, but one should hesitate to make war just because they are afraid of war.
Hence, it would be nice if our political leaders were in the front lines.

Well, I didn't find the article to be very illuminating, mainly because it makes the claim based on only two examples--Hagel and Will. But the premise is correct.

It's been interesting to see incumbent Republican congresscritters, especially in tight districts, but even in so-called safe seats, running away from their party. Look at their websites, and you don't see the word "Republican" anywhere near them. In the district next to mine, Republican congressman Clay Shaw is running for re-election, and the word Republican is nowhere to be found. Why? This is south Florida, and even the rich folks up in Boca are backing away from Bush now. Bush only has the Cuban community left down here.

I wish Alabama was like that. The governor election is coming up and the incumbant governor has one commercial out - it is a bunch of people saying the opposing party's candidate is "liberal." Literally, just people going "She's liberal," "liberal, "liberal."

Well, the Democrats in that state aren't much better. They disqualified a Democratic candidate who won the primary based on a rule that hasn't been used in 20 years--a rule the candidate's opponent broke also. The reason? The primary winner stood to become the first openly lesbian state legislator.

There's a rule against that?

I doubt there is a rule against lesbian legislatures but some other stupid thing no one ever heard of to stop it from happening.

hagel is a rino repub in name only like girly boy arnold s

and in case you haven't noticed repubs are 80% demos anyway - just takes them 20% longer to do the same things

There's a rule against that? :confused:Sorry, no. There's a rule about who the candidates have to report their contributions to inside the party, but the rule hasn't been used in 20 years, because the candidates make their reports to the Secretary of State now. She made her state report, but not the party report, and the party used that as an excuse to get rid of her, even though she doesn't have a Republican opponent for the seat, and is basically a shoo-in to win since she won the primary.

What he said was: "Hagel is a 'Republican-in-name-only', or RINO just like girly-boy Arnold is.

And in case you haven't noticed, 80% is Republicans are Democrats - or at least RINO's, it just takes them 20% longer to do the same things.
