I am beginning to think so. Let me list several occurrences that have happened over the last year.

-Items suchs as keys, wallets, or cell phones, are placed in one spot by a human, yet 10 mins later, they are found in a completly different spot.
- Lights are turned on by themself. Not in front of us. But like, we could go out of a room and come back to it with the light turned on.
-just an overall eerie feeling about the house.
- the stove timer goes off every night(when I am not home only) at around midnight. even with the stove unplugged one night my mom recorded the stove going off. even if we set the time to some other time, it still goes off.
- the front and back door, although locked everynight before going to bed, will a lot of times be unlocked and slightly open in the morning
-this one is the kicker. The other nigth..last tuesday to be exact. At around 3:30 am, i was in the living room, watching informercials, and playing on my computer, when i look into the kitchen area and i see what appears to be a 10 yr old blonde girl in a night gown go walking by. It had me so scared i literally jumped off the couch and ran into my bedroom and hid under the covers.


So should i have like a catholic preist come over and bless my house or something? Or is this all just part of my imagination and it can all be explained by logic?

I would reasearch the history of your house. Go to the local Historical Society or your town's libarary and just look at the past. Most hauntings are a result of traumatic experiences in the place such as suicide, murder, etc. However, some hauntings happen because the spirit like the place and decides to hang around in the afterlife. Also, look into the local Ghost Hunting Society, they can be of great help. :)

One of our offices had some major problems with their pc. in the span of one month, the hard drive crashed 3 times, the monitor had to be replaced 5 times, the floppy drive replaced 4 times, and every day, the virus scanner found and removed hundreds of viruses.

after checking the electrical system and everything... our department got a priest to bless the room. and all of the problems stopped.

I don't believe in ghosts, but the lights turning on and off can probably be chocked up to bad wiring. The stove, if the timer is digital, may have some sort of backup batteries. As for the keys, you may have simply misplaced them. The girl could be a figment of your imagination, as you're worried about those other things and think your house is haunted.

There's also the possibility that one of your neighbors is a ten year old blonde girl who enjoys messing with your head. Maybe even with the support of friends. Or maybe you have some homeless kid living in your house, hiding from you and sneaking food from the fridge - cases like that have happened before.

Or, if I'm wrong on all these counts, something weird is happening at your place.

I stayed at a house where a murder and a suicide had occurred once (separate events), and never felt anything unusual, before or after being told. Other than the bullet holes in the walls (not related to either event), it was a perfectly normal house. I'm kinda skeptical about hauntings..

Then again, I probably wouldn't move even if the house were proved to be haunted.. I've slept in beds people have died in, driven dead people's cars, etc. No big thing.

In most cases of hauntings there is always a coldness in the air especially when you see or fell the spirit. So if you felt cold in a sudden, it could be a haunting. Of course it could be just you imagination, but you never know. As somene said check the history of the house maybe you'll find the culprit.

My ma's house was one when she was a kid and that explained all of the possible hauntings in her house (the reason why I doubt her is because six year olds minds are much more out-of-wack when it comes to ghosts).

She claims to clearly remember a cold, icy hand plop on her sholder while she was putting away her clothes when no one else was home.

Check the history of your house. Something bad might have happened in it in the past but the real estate agents never tell you about these kinda things.

I believe hauted houses are highly unlikely...but not impossible. I'm sure soemone could come up with causes not supernatural for all of those things.
However, many things can be explained in multiple ways (including ghosts).
Bottom Line: your house is probably NOT haunted (but I didn't say it WASN'T).

Your house is not haunted. Ghosts are not real. There is and never will be any evidence to prove their existence, for they do not exist. Thusly, all of the occurrances are explained easily in a logical manner, including the doors. Is it possible a family member ventured outside and then didn't fully close the door on their way back in? I've done that myself occasionally. 'Course, I live up in the mountains so the only thing that'll come in would be squirrils and maybe a black bear if we were horribly unlucky.

What you describe is simply telekinetic phenomenon.
You are right by saying that sometimes this can be attributed to ghosts, however.

Etheral forms however, can be attributed to Poltergeists.
Often they are called "Living poltergeists", wich means that the supposed spirit was once alive.

The best thing to do would be to try and borrow an electromagnetic meter, to see if the house has some strange electrical currents within it.

Overtiredness can also cause hallucinations, but usually nothing so dramatic as a girl moving across a doorway, usually its merely something that appears to move out of the corner of your eye.

sounds like it - I've lived in a couple haunted houses, but it never bothered me (sometimes a minor annoyance like when items go missing or they mess with your tv or throw things across the room) - although I wouldnt like the door being unlocked and left open thing.

Only get the house blessed if you feel the presence is malevolent. Sometimes, a blessing can have seriously unwanted consequences; if your house is haunted there's a good chance that you might open the door to more malevolent spirits if you force out the ones already present.

A few questions:

When did the haunting start?

Are there any young girls in the neighborhood? We had a kid that actually went in to our house and several other through unlocked doors without anyone knowing.

Things moving around could be simple forgetfulness, or someone might have moved them without you knowing, either unintentionally or as a prank playing off your concern of them being haunted.

Lights going on and off can be caused by faulty wiring or damage. Is your house old or has it suffered some kind of water/storm damage in the past few years?

The stove timer might be a mechanical failure in the stove itself that is causing it to go off even with the stove unplugged; some timers and alarms do function independently of an outside power source (like my alarm clock).

Make the best of the haunting, challenge the ghost to an intense game of chess, and if you win tell the ghost 2 leave the house.

yes it sounds as if you a) either have a housemate with a sick sence of humour or b) casper has taken up residence.

Or if ne of your house mates practise chi kung, reki etc ask thems not to do it in the house or the grounds of the house as it attracts spirts etc

Only get the house blessed if you feel the presence is malevolent. Sometimes, a blessing can have seriously unwanted consequences; if your house is haunted there's a good chance that you might open the door to more malevolent spirits if you force out the ones already present.

A few questions:

When did the haunting start?

Are there any young girls in the neighborhood? We had a kid that actually went in to our house and several other through unlocked doors without anyone knowing.

Things moving around could be simple forgetfulness, or someone might have moved them without you knowing, either unintentionally or as a prank playing off your concern of them being haunted.

Lights going on and off can be caused by faulty wiring or damage. Is your house old or has it suffered some kind of water/storm damage in the past few years?

The stove timer might be a mechanical failure in the stove itself that is causing it to go off even with the stove unplugged; some timers and alarms do function independently of an outside power source (like my alarm clock).

I always put my keys in the same place- on my dresser. So explain to me, how some one can sneak into my room, while i am in there, and take my keys and move them into my mothers room? As far as I know all the wiring and stuff is correct. My father is an electrician, and granted he doesn't live with my us, he did check out all the wiring and such before we moved in. As for the timer, that one is a littl emore explaininable, except for the fact that it only goes off when I am NOT around. If you can explain that one, go right ahead :).

also, my mum called me last night saying that my sister can't sleep, she has started having terrible nightmares, and my mum is having trouble sleeping as she claims to hear voices at night. So thats an update on the situation.

So thats an update on the situation.get a priest to perform a blessing on the house (the religion is up to you.) if anything, it can provide a calming effect for your sister and mother.

The fact that these things occur when you're not here rules out poltergeist activity for at least some of the stuff. However, you say that the keys do move around when you're present...do they only move around when you're present or is it an ordinary occurence.

Also, does the activity seem to intensify when your sister is present and fall back when she isn't? That would be a pretty sure-fire sign of poltergeist activity.

Is your house above any kind of old mine tunnels or similar underground openings or caverns? Sometimes, gases from these tunnels can escape in to basements or even seep up through the ground and the pipe networks built over them. Exposure to these fumes can cause hallucinations or the illusion of hearing voices.

Also, don't rule out the possibility of sleep paralysis, a psychological, stress-influenced condition that creates the sensation of being pinned or unable to move in bed and is usually accompanied by frightening noises, voices, and images.
