Evil is done!

No, not the Evil yall are thinking about, I'm talking about my dad's Factory Five Cobra. After a year and half of working on it, Evil has passed it's final test run. My dad still has to do some minor work on it, but it's mostly done. So why call it Evil? Well just look at it and you'll see why!

lol, actually it's center of gravity is right dead center in the car, and it's low to the ground. We have an S turn here where there was alot of crashes from cars going too fast. My dad ran the Cobra through the S turn at 60 mph, and it didn't even lean.

Eh not too fast lol, Dad wouldn't let me. It's in the breaking in period now. Plus the computers still need to be dialed in, so it's going to go to a Dyno soon so the computers in the car can be dialed in.

Because everything relates back to Ferris Beuller in some way or another. For example, the last time I was in DC I randomly met Ben Stein, automatically making that trip the "Ferris Beuller DC Adventure".

yeah, that's the current plan.

we were pretty close (like within 1K) but we decided to pay cash for his college tuition instead of taking out a student loan (you know to remain debt free) so we took a lot out of the fund.

He said that I could pick the color, I want a blue one LOL ( I am such a girl)

the guy who designed the original had a great selling point...

he'd put a $100 bill on the dash board and tell the prospective buyer that if he could grab the bill while accelerating the bill was his...

no one ever got the $100

That was 1961....

I'll bet that pushes it down the road smartly! It oughta be light enough that turbo lag wont be much of a driveability issue.

ahh....not a proper Cobra then? Turbo...yuck!

Advice...the backed has a real tendency to step out...if it does...power through...just be aware of the revs that the turbo kicks in....you don't want to be hitting a bend and then loose it when it does kick in....

The original never was turbo'd....

I don't like the wheels you've put on there, it's not a Honda, it's a Cobra. Dammit.

Last week I was knee deep in real Cobras, even watching them run in anger (and being menaced by Minis, it was fantastic.)

Now that I'm done sour graping...

Factory Five makes a solid ride from everything I've read. I like their Daytona, if you're gonna ride a fakey (and in the case of a Cobra, it makes sense) then go balls out.

Though, since I'm a dirty hippie with a car thing, my current fantasy sports car is this Elise based beauty: (http://www.teslamotors.com/index.php?js_enabled=1)

On a side note, while I understand the desire to stay debt free, if you have to go into debt, student loan debt isn't bad. You can lock in a lower rate than you can get on the open market in most cases, and you can defer repayment for quite a while. If interest rates wind up lower than inflation, it can actually save you money in the long run.

The wheels still gotta go. Really, if you don't have knock-off wheels (you know what I'm talking about, right? One center bolt that you take off with rubber hammer) you really compramise the whole thing. It makes it look like a Mustang in a dress rather than the offspring of the epitome of American sports cars (take something someone already built and shoe horn a big ass engine in it...)
