Ok Genreration Y is one of the recent generations!!!! From the years 1985-1999 or something around that...As are generation is maturing the world around them has changed starting around the dawn of the 21st century..Do you think that this generation is uniqe? Could this generation set the world strait again? By fixing Global Warming,Terrorism(Islamic Facist),Cutting down forest? Well some dont belive that. Studies show that this generation is the most drugged generation is HISTORY...We are also the fattest(At least in the U.S). Are generation are mostly zombies drueling of their keyboards like me.. Will we be able to live a life like are parents or will we be doomed by current events and future events! Some good news is that this generation isnt as racist as past generations. We are more carring and dont really care about race..We are smarter then ever but still lazy..We see all our parents mistakes and vow to make sure we dont make those crazy mistakes that are parents made? But is this generation y the last good generation..The new silent generation 2001- could be digitalized 100% they will live in grim times then in the 90's and soo on..

So what do you think generation y will have coming and do you think they have the power to change the world?

No, it'll be as selfish and unforesighted as every generation before and after. I mean, it doesn't even have a cool name. Like the Baby Boomers, they make it sound as though their parents were horny bastards. It sound slike we're asking a question in txt.

I know all this because I am a Generation Y(er)

You can keep your "Y," thank you very much.

No kidding on the name thing-no identity until you get a better name. It's not even trying hard and misses the point of calling Generation X Generation X. It's not that the Baby Boomers where Generation W and we just dropped the auxillary name.

Get a better name and then we can talk about your impact.

Though I fall within that age group, I don't associate with the term. Generation Y is devoted to finding ways to forge an identity in a reality where information is thrown all over the place. Everyone tries to find some sort of banner to stand under. If this keeps up, we'll be even worse than our predecessors in our blatant tribalism and segregation habits.

You failed, but at least got the capitalisation quite close ("computer" is almost always not a proper noun). Please look up the apostrophe, for starters.

It is something I've noticed about The Youth Of Today, even at work; they really can't write proper English (and, as I'm in England, that's a useful ability). 'Course, many people my age (mid-20s) can't be bothered to do so, either.

Why should other people bother to read what you write, if you can't be bothered to write it properly in the first place?

This is part of the topic. Generation Y is often referred to as the MySpace Generation due to the way it communicates, and the noticeable drop in standards of language is a trait that has become stereotypical of people of our age.

Anyway, what's so difficult about spelling on the internet? Is there something magical about sitting in front of a keyboard connected by wires to millions of others that makes people incapable of assembling words correctly?

I've met lots of people you might otherwise consider intelligent who get the two confused. I'm not sure why, but I suppose the contraction "-'ve" (eg. Communication standards are not about getting grades. They are about relaying thoughts, ideas and concepts in a way that is comfortable to the reader. If you stick to the standards, the reader needs to do less work in order to understand what you're trying to tell them. It is courtesy and manners, not mere bureaucracy, that linguistic rules and conventions exist to uphold.

If you choose to ignore these rules, the inevitable result is that other people need to make a conscious effort to decrypt what you're trying to say. If you're going to be lazy about it and you constantly shift this burden of effort on to your readers, be prepared to have your views tossed aside.

So what do you think generation y will have coming and do you think they have the power to change the world?

www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Y

GenY will have a lot coming: nukes, moral/social issues, etc.

But I just had a random thought about the whole GenX/GenY thing. If I am GenY (born in 1992) and my parents are GenX, will my kids be GenZ? What will my grandkids be (if I have any)? Will we start back at A or will we pull a 2005 hurricane season and go to Greek letters?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americas_Got_Talent

"The talent show is a search for America's next talent. The show features singers, dancers, magicians, comedians and other talents of all ages. Anyone who believes they have talent can audition.

The performance shows of America's Got Talent are rated TV-PG, and the results shows are rated TV-14.

The advertised top prize is one million dollars. Some early ads for the show implied that the winning act would also headline a show at a casino, possibly in Las Vegas; however, there has been no mention of this on the show or in the most recent promotions.

The show premiered with a two-hour special on June 21, 2006 from 9:00-11:00 p.m. EDT. The semifinals began on July 13. The Wednesday performance shows are two-hours from 8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT. The first results show aired at 9:30 p.m. EDT the following Thursday, however NBC extended the results shows to one hour beginning July 20, to air from 9:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.

Regis Philbin is the host. The judges are Piers Morgan, Brandy and David Hasselhoff. Neither the host nor the judges know the content of the acts in advance of their performances"

Save the world? Me? Hell no!
