Man, stories like this make me proud to live north of the Mason-Dixon line.

This school bus driver in Louisiana has been accused of forcing the black students to use the back two rows of seats on his bus. Black students allegedly had to stand or sit in each other's laps while white students had more than enough seating. I thought we were beyond crap like this.

Anyway, here's a joke.

So this bus driver is getting tired of all his white passengers and black passengers arguing over where they should sit. He pulls the bus over and forces everyone out. Bus driver tells them "OK, from now on you are all blue. Got that? No white, no black, you're all blue. Now let's get back on the bus. Light blue in front, dark blue in back."

My Mom grew up in Newark, NJ, and served in the Army in WWII. She was stationed for a while in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, and went to Chattanooga on a pass, where she was shocked to see "ColoredTo The Rear" signs on the buses. Which is not to say that segregation didn't exist up north, it was just subtler.

Depends on the severity. Where I work racial comments that the person finds offensive could be target for termination.

I don't know what upsets me more:

Racism itself is not a crime, and shouldn't be. But forcing a group of people into too few seats when there were plenty up front should cause him to be fired, and "blacklisted" from working any similar jobs again. Pardon my terminology.

i expect that if they bother to follow up, we;ll find that there is something more to the story than one racist bus driver having a flashback to 1952. it may well be that the black children refused to sit with the white kids and the bus driver refused to make the white kids double up so as to free up the seats for the black kids.

strange stuff happens on school busses all the time. no need to believe the first story you hear. time will tell if the bus driver has been attending too many klan meetings or if the kids told their moms only one piece of the story.
