Illinois man traveling with his mom accused of telling airport security penis pump was a bomb

CHICAGO, Aug. 23, 2006

(AP) Cook County prosecutors say a 29-year-old man traveling with his mother desperately didn't want her to know he'd packed a sexual aid for their trip to Turkey. So he told security it was a bomb, officials said.

Madin Azad Amin was stopped by officials on Aug. 16 after guards found an object in his baggage that resembled a grenade, prosecutors said.

When officers asked him to identify it, Amin said it was a bomb, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto.

He later told officials he'd lied about the item because his mother was nearby and he didn't want her to hear that it was part of a penis pump, Scaduto said.

He's been charged with felony disorderly conduct, said Andrew Conklin, a spokesman with the Cook County state's attorney's office.

Amin faces up to three years in prison if convicted.

On topic: Penis pumps are incredibly dangerous anyway. Penis size is determined by genetics, and no amount of pumping or pills or exercises or anything of that sort will lengthen it at all. In fact, most such methods can injure you, possibly permenantly. Frankly, I think he deserves it for being stupid enough to buy a penis pump in the first place.

I think it could have been handled a bit better...both by the guy but also the authorities.

The guys Mum was there....he obviously had a major panic attack and said the first thing that popped into his head....be fair...how many here have not done something equally as stupid...? I know I have.

Of course once he said that the authorities took the correct actions...arrest and search etc...no one can say that was wrong.

However once the truth was out...a really stern talking to was all that was needed. I really doubt the guy will ever do that again...carrying a penis pump and saying he hasa bomb.

This is one of those circumstances that really needed a bit of common sense.

I am not saying that its ok for people to say they have bombs...it is not and prison is a good learning tool...but in this case....a pretty unique case I am sure all can agree....no I think it is wrong for him to be charged and face prison.

Now had his Mum not been there and he said that....then yes...charge the guy to the hilt...and if found guilty...put him in prison.

His Mum was there...and we all know how tongue tied we get when embarrassed...esp about sex....and really esp about something as embarrassing as a 'sex aid' (however misguided they might be).

I don't, either, and they do have to take it seriously, this goes back before our recent increase in airport security. I can imagine the security people fighting over the "honor" of informing Mommy Dearest.
