Amazing comeback in that last Quarter. Well done the Kiwis I say.
Low scoring game though.

Looking thru the game play-by-play stats, I came across this:
13 seconds left in the 2nd Q:
00:13 Substitution for NZL - Boucher, Dillon (out); Penney, Kirk (in)
00:13 Substitution for NZL - Frank, Casey (out); Cameron, Pero (in)

I think this explains why the amazing comeback in the 3rd and 4th Qs.

Yep, i won't argue with that.
Dillon Boucher is a Rebound and Steal 'specialist' but can't really score, and also he ain't that good at rebounds...

Casey Franks is the same.

Those 2 and Aaron Olsen are mostly dead weight...
I would have liked to have seen Benny Hill(:p I think that is his name) make the team, he is awesome from 3 point range.
Sean Marks: Real shame he retired, he was brilliant at the last World Champs, shame how he got accidentally eye-gouged...
If Baldwin had got him back in, he, Bradshaw and Rampton would be pretty phenomonal.

New Zealand shot from 3 point range 14 times in the first half and made none...
That explains Japans 18 point lead.
I also saw the Tall Blacks shooting positions from the 1st half, the only shots they made were close in under the bucket on the right, all the outside shooting was crap.
-------------------------------------------
In the German game, Germany made the majority of their points from 3 point range, something like a mere 4 points were not made from 3 point range...

*snip*

Isn't this what you said at both the last olympics and the last world champs? After the last world champs fucking New Zealand had finished higher than the US and we suck pretty bad at basketball by world standards.

Yeah, but those weren't our best teams. If we actually put out the best team we could we'd cut through the rest of the world like butter.

That's the best team in the world right now. No one can beat them.

Well they had some pretty big names at the last worlds if I remember rightly, but too many big ego players. I've heard that they have more of a team and less of a group of individuals this time though, so you're probably right about them winning.

Did they?
I thought they sent an understrength team to Indiana, heck they lost to the State that never was, Puerto Rico. :p
