Who likes 90's rock? I do, and I made a poll of it. It's hard to pick a band, but I decided for Green Day, because in the nineties, they had some of the best albums ever.

Oasis
Blur
Radiohead

Top 3! Wooo brit pop!

Nobody ever mentions Stone Temple Pilots on these things. But Scott Weiland despite all of his heroin issues was (is?) an excellent front man for a band that just kicks ass live.

My vote is for STP.

Damn, I voted Soundgarden before I noticed Tool on the poll. Anyhoo, they were both great bands.

That's probably the only 90's band that could have made me even think twice before choosing Radiohead, by far the best choice there.

How is Oasis not on this poll?
(although I can't stand Oasis, they need to be an option)

Fugazi, an underground band that didn't hop on the mainstream bandwagon after Nirvana.

Green Day. There are so many of their songs that I like while the others there are only 2 or 3.

Ween is a great band. Radiohead and Tool get on the list as well. I also can't stand Oasis.

Am I the only one who thinks Nirvana are overated?

They get honourable mention for spearheading the movement that ended the MC Hammer era, but they were hardly the best sound out there.

Am I the only one who thinks Nirvana are overated?

Of course they are.

Any band that has that much hype about them will be overrated no matter how good they are.

But they were still fucking good.

Green Day? ugh

I guess I would be the only one to pick Primus so far.

I just like bands that have a unique sound and aren't afraid to take the path NOT travelled.

I would have picked Tool otherwise.

Agreed - Nirvana was a band I could like right away - they didnt have to grow on me. They had talent and an original sound as well. Diidn't they pretty much put Seattle sound on the map?

They sound like your average whiney pop-punk band. The sound isn't original and the the singers voice makes me cringe.

Check out everything through to Nimrod. Awesome.

After that....a bit shite.

Poor misguided child. Green Day is incredible. In fact, they are my second favorite band ever, second only to the godliness of Pink Floyd.

Was forced to hear their crap from teh beginning and like I said, his voice makes me cringe. It's torture for me personally.

And the pop punk fad never appealed to me - too whiney and unoriginal

Blink-182, Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy... *Shudder*

Nirvana. The rest are just derivative.

You can argue that better sounding bands would soon come about, but they only had to elaborate slightly on an existing style. You can still hear Nirvana's influence in most music today.

Green Day is just another popular band that jumped on the punk wagon. They were much better back in the 90's than they are today, but hardly anything to get excited over.

Tsk, Tsk. I love all Green Day, with the exception of a few songs on American Idiot, whic I still love. How can you hate Green Day? I get it with the voice, but Mike Dirnt is an awesome bassist, Tre is a good drummer, and Billie Joe Armstrong is a great songwriter and a good guitar player. lus as a live band they are incredible.

Green Day were nothing like Good Charlotte (*shudder*), or FOB (I can't bring myself to type their name out).

I could see a bit of the Blink comparison, but not much.

Eh?

Does. Not. Computer.

Dismissing someone like Radiohead as derivative and then saying Nirvana are good because they aren't?

How do you compare the greatness of Green Day to crap like FOB and Blink? The style is completely different.

I think I'll listen to "Basket Case" right now. :)

... They sound identical.

It's all the same prepackaged made-in-a-studio sound that all pop-"punk" bands have. Greed Day is no different.

Toss up between Tool and Soundgarden. (Voted Tool)

Not the 'best' but out of the list, one of my many favourites from the decade.

Early stuff just had lower recording quality and less skill. They wanted the same sound, they just couldn't get it.

Edit: That and their eyes have bleached under the influence of all the drugs they must have taken.

From that list, I went for Tool, closely followed by Radiohead.

I would add Spiderbait to that list.

Electric Light Orchestra

First off, it's my job to mention them. See the sig?
Secondly, they're too awesome to be contained in a single decade. Actually, Jeff Lynne was mostly producing during the 90s.

And cast my vote for Moxy Früvous.
