Okee, NSG, help TSI out with his computer before he hangs himself with the power cord.
Every so often, at random intervals, my computer imput devices (keyboard and mouse slip into a type of Alternate mode. When I punch a letter, it goes to the corresponding item on the menu bar. Like, if I'm using Word, when I press F, it goes to the file menu instead of typing F, and so on. And when I double click on a application, it goes directly to the properties, instead to starting the application.
I just talked to the Floor tech dude, and he's never seen anything like it. This damn this is very annoying, and seems to come and go randomly.
Please, NSG, pimp my...errr, fix my computer!

Reboot in SafeMode, hit CTRL - ALT - F3, click the third option, reboot in SafeMode, delete cookies, reboot as normal.

Done multiple times, no change.

Hardware is fine, most likely not a virus. I just ran a sweep yesterday.
Something similar to that happened on my old, shit computer. Sometimes I'd press e and a windows explorer window would come up, or s and a search window would come up, or r and the run (go to start and run if you don't know what I'm talking about)thing came up. Don't remember the mouse acting screwy though. I have no idea how to fix it though.

Get a Mac, they don't do stupid stuff for no reason.
Make sure that you aren't pressing alt. Make sure that your alt key isn't sticking.

I've plugged in 3 different keyboards when it's happening. All do the same things.

Are you plugging them into the PS/2 port or the USB port?

USB. I haven't seen a PS/2 keyboard in ages.

PS/2 is quite prone to problems.
If one of your keyboards came with a driver CD. Install the drivers. If none of them did, re-install Windows (well, I'd wait for a better answer). If you do not have your own Windows disk, initiate AGK then take'r into future shop.

Future Shop is Canadian only. I always forget that thought. Replace it with US's monolithic Computer Related merchandiser.

Ok. That makes much more sense.

For future reference, what is it?
The problem is simply that your computer believes that you are holding down the alt key, this is probably the keyboard, or drivers. You said you tried changing the keyboards while it was happening, depending on the drivers, it could think you are still holding it down after you unplug it, so my suggestion is unplug the keyboard, turn off the PC, put one that has no history of an issue in, and then turn the computer on, and see if it happens again.

Clean your keyboard. One of the alt keys is getting stuck. Tap both alt keys when it's doing this a few times and see if that fixes it. If it's a cheapo keyboard might as well get a new one.
