Setting default audio/video player

Ok, I have Windows XP, and I have Winamp (which is ok) and Windows Media Player. For some reason when I downloaded Winamp, it became the default audio and video player, which sucks for the most part because it can't play most of the things that I want to see. However, Windows Media Player can, so how can I set the default Audio/Video player back to Windows Media Player?

Delete your "Windows" folder.

You might try hitting the F1 key and asking Help how to do it.

Used to use WinAmp, but set up my WMP to do everything including Real Media now. :p

I'd help, I would. I just can't be bothered to boot into Windows and then translate the steps needed to English equivalents.

However, IIRC, there should be a setting in WMP's preferences that let you tick what files you want associated with it.

You mean
1. Open Windows Media Player
2. Select Tools-Options from the menu
3. Click on File Types
4. Click the Select All button
5. Click OK to close options

See, I knew I remembered something like that in WMP, just in Swedish.

/Gnome still does it better. :p

Couple ways:

A) Start->Set Program Access and Defaults. Set WMP to the default and press save.

B) Right Click a media file. Press Open With... (If it has a submenu, choose "Select From List"). Select WMP and tick "Always use this program for this filetype".

Being Windows, both methods will probably be forgotten once, then half work after that. So I suggest doing both, rebooting, then doing what rebooting undid.

Well I got it to work, and I am now listening to Coast to Coast AM online. This is one of the best radio shows around. Thanks for the help.
